Stat Focus – The Key Stats For Thursday’s Racing

There’s some fantastic racing to look forward to on Thursday, with the final round of this year’s Racing League, plus the opening day of Ayr’s Gold Cup meeting.

We’ve delved into the stats and picked out some of key pieces that it might pay to keep on side with on Thursday ↓

Simon & Ed Crisford have been on fire recently, with 9 winners and 5 horses placing from just 20 runners!

They have four runners across the cards on Thursday:

  • Misty Dancer (3:35 Ayr)
  • Another Romance (4:02 Pontefract)
  • Eshtora (4:45 Ayr)
  • Poker Face (5:10 Pontefract)

No jockey has ridden more winners in the past two weeks (or most of the year!) than William Buick – firing in 18 winners from just 45 rides (40% strike-rate), including a superb four winners at Sandown on Wednesday!

He has a trio of rides on the Chelmsford card:

  • Appointed One (6:00)
  • Apollo One (7:00)
  • Ochil House (7:30)

We move onto looking at each course, highlight some of the best performing trainers/jockeys/owners/horses on each card on Thursday ↓

TRAINER – Katie Scott has a 28% (5-18) strike-rate at Ayr this season, and sends just one runner there on Thursday:

  • Far From A Ruby (5:20) – has a 3221 record at Ayr

JOCKEY – Daniel Tudhope has a 16% (103 winners form 659 rides) overall strike-rate at Ayr, which improves to a 24% strike-rate when looking at this year only (6 winners from 25 rides).

He has five rides there on Thursday:

  • Never Dark (2:25)
  • Revich (3:00)
  • Smiling Jayne (3:35)
  • Professional Widow (4:10)
  • Mick McHugh (5:20)

JOCKEY – Daniel Muscutt currently sits fourth in the Racing League jockey standings, but has a good chance of finishing higher after tomorrow’s racing at one of his most prolific courses. He has an impressive 29% strike-rate at Newcastle this year (9 winners from 31 rides).

He’s riding through the card there tomorrow:

  • Vindolanda (5:45)
  • Andaleep (6:15)
  • Menai Bridge (6:45)
  • Street Kid (7:15)
  • Kitbag (7:45)
  • Temple Bruer (8:15)
  • Many A Star (8:45)

TRAINERS – John & Thady Gosden have an impressive 31% strike-rate (16 winners from 52 runners) at Yarmouth since teaming up. That improves to a superb 42% (8 winners from 19 runners) when looking at just this year!

They send four there on Thursday:

  • Maasai Mara (2:10)
  • Vaguely Royal (2:10)
  • Ananda (2:45)
  • Original Thinker (3:20)

JOCKEY – Aside from the all-weather, Yarmouth is the only course Jack Mitchell has ridden over 50 winners at. He’s currently operating at a 21% strike-rate (4 winners from 19 rides) there this year.

He has four rides there on Thursday:

  • Little Sunflower (1:35)
  • Azure Angel (2:45)
  • Capote’s Dream (5:05)
  • Kodiac Blue (5:35)

TRAINER – Ed Dunlop has a 21% (32 winners from 153 runners) overall strike-rate at Pontefract, but this year he’s upped that to a huge 50% (4 winners form 8 runners)!

He sends just one Runner there on Thursday:

  • Commandment (4:02)

The filly has won twice and placed in four of her eight races over 6f, but takes a big step up from class 4 to class 2 company.

HORSE – Since moving to Roger Fell’s yard, Dandy Spirit has won two races, both at Pontefract. He currently has a 67% strike-rate when racing here (2-3), and is back here on Thursday (1:42).

TRAINER – Richard Hughes has had more winners at Chelmsford than any other course (53 winners). He has an over strike-rate of 19% (53-275) when sending horses there, but that improves to 24% just looking at this year (7 winners from 29 runners).

He sends four to the all-weather course on Thursday:

  • Noah David (6:00)
  • Schwartz (7:30)
  • Fast Danseuse (8:00)
  • Cavalluccio (8:30)

Of those, Schwartz looks to be his best chance of a winner, after landing a hat-trick when winning here last month.

OWNER – Godolphin have a healthy 23% strike-rate with their horses at Chelmsford this year, and send two horses there on Thursday:

  • Appointed One (6:00)
  • City Walk (7:00)

Appointed One went close on debut and has man of the moment William Buick on board here, so should take all the beating.
