SUNDAY HORSE RACING BEST BETS – TIPS FOR KELSO AND UTTOXETER
12:35 Uttoxeter – Visit attheraces.com Maiden Hurdle (GBB Race) (Div I) Cl4 (4yo+) 2m
BRIEF AMBITION showed good form in bumpers last term, winning at Southwell and making the frame in two Listed contests at Cheltenham and Newbury although Fergal O’Brien’s charge failed to land a blow in the Champion Bumber on his last outing at the Cheltenham Festival.
The Yeats gelding could prove tough to beat switching now to hurdles and if he can translate that useful bumper form over obstacles at the first attempt then it would be no surprise to see him collecting this prize which looks well within reach.
2:16 Uttoxeter – Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap Hurdle Cl5 (3yo+ 0-100) 2m
RADJASH could have been found a decent opportunity to get off the mark having travelled well for a long way when runner-up at Sedgefield earlier in the month.
Declan Carroll’s charge was finishing runner-up for the second time in three starts and bounced back from a fall at Perth where he was still in with chances when departing. He bumped into a decent one latest but finished well clear of the third horse home and he can go one better here from the same mark where the flatter track could show him in a better light.
2:30 Kelso – Belhaven Brewery Handicap Chase Cl4 (5yo+ 0-120) 3m2f
DAMIENS DILEMMA rarely runs a bad race here and the veteran Waleed gelding arrives in good heart where he’s won two of his last three outings with successes here and at Hexham latterly following eleven months off the track.
Stuart Coltherd’s charge found plenty for pressure in that last outing, making most and overcoming a couple of late mistakes to score and if turning out here in similar form then he could follow up having been raised only 3lbs and likely to be sharper for that recent outing.
4:35 Kelso – RacingTV 100% Profits Returned To Racing Novices’ Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl4 (4yo+) 2m5f
Olly Murphy has a 50% strike rate with his limited runners in the past fortnight and FITZROY can land a first career success.
The Fame and Glory gelding showed some fair ability in bumpers before switching to obstacles last term where he made the frame in three of his four starts over timber, latterly finishing third behind Polish at Ludlow in February.
That is fair form with the runner-up winning twice since, while the fourth has also won subsequently and he ran second on his seasonal debut so lack of a recent outing here might not prove too much of an inconvenience.
