SUNDAY RACING BEST BETS – RACING TIPS AT PLUMPTON AND LUDLOW
1:50 Ludlow – South Shropshire Roofing Handicap Hurdle (Div I) Cl5 (4yo+ 0-105) 2m5½f
JESSICA RABBIT had long threatened to win a race before making the breakthrough latest at Doncaster and George Mcpherson’s charge can follow up here to double her tally.
The Mawatheeq mare had finished runner-up in two of her previous three outings prior to returning from a couple of months off with a first career win back in November, beating Donald Dux by two lengths.
That race has since thrown up a number of subsequent winners and now she’s got her head in front she might be able to go in again despite a 5lbs rise in the weights for that first success.
3:08 Plumpton – tote.co.uk Handicap Chase Cl4 (5yo+ 0-120) 2m1f
DILIGENT is on a winning streak at present having struck on each of his last three starts and the Kapgarde gelding gives the impression he hasn’t done with his improvement just yet.
Having possibly needed his first run for Nigel Hawke he has since reeled off a hat-trick of successes which includes here over a longer trip and he latterly defied a double-penalty in good style at Fontwell last month, beating Etat Major Aulmes by eight lengths.
This will certainly be tougher stepping into a Class 4 contest where he’s significantly higher in the weights and he doesn’t have his usual rider’s 7lbs claim to help him out this time so he will need to find another jolt of improvement.
However his superiority last time marked him out as one who likely has more to offer and he could be up to the task of defying his revised mark in this better race.
3:20 Ludlow – Vobe Electrics Handicap Hurdle Cl3 (4yo+ 0-130) 2m
TAKEIT EASY kickstarted the last winter campaign with a breakthrough success at Huntingdon and although beaten the next twice in outings at Cheltenham and Newbury respectively he ran well in defeat both times.
The Malinas gelding got back to winning ways latest over this course and distance where Pam Sly’s charge struck by just over one length from Hydroplane; that was in March and the form looks solid with the runner-up winning his next two starts, while the third has gone on to post successive runner-up efforts.
A 3lbs rise for that last win looks very workable indeed and the lightly-raced sort could have more improvement to come. She ought to remain competitive and it wouldn’t come as a shock to see her back in the winners’ enclosure here.
4:08 Plumpton – Sky Sports Racing Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle (Racing Excellence Training Series Finale) Cl3 (4yo+ 0-125) 2m4½f
PLAYA BLANCA won four times in success during 2020 and while he’s been somewhat hit or miss since the Zoffany gelding got back on track latest with a fine runner-up effort behind Commanche Red here in April, just failing in being denied by a head.
He was just run down close home that day by the eventual winner with the front two pulling well clear of the rest and from just 2lbs higher in the weights Seamus Mullins’ charge ought to make his presence felt again here where he can get back to winning ways if running to a similar level.
