FRENCH RACING TIPS – SUNDAY BEST BETS FOR DEAUVILLE
1:35 Deauville – Prix Club Hipico Concepcion – Prix Michel Houyvet (Listed Race) (3yo) (Round Course) (Turf) (3yo) 1m6f
MEASURE OF TIME saw his unbeaten record ended when finishing third in a Group Three last time out at Longchamp, however the Gleneagles colt can quickly get back on the scoresheet easing down slightly in grade.
Andre Fabre’s charge has already won at Fontainebleu and Clairefontaine, the latter when stepping up in trip where he struck an impressive three lengths’ victory over Baratin. His hat-trick attempt was foiled when beaten only one length into third behind Volkan Star in the Prix Du Lys which looks smart form.
A further step up in distance here could unlock more improvement and assuming this quick ground doesn’t catch him out then he can resume winning ways dropping into Listed company.
2:50 Deauville – LARC Prix Maurice de Gheest (Group 1) (3yo+) (Straight Course) (Turf) (3yo+) 6½f
An excellent renewal of this contest featuring the Commonwealth Cup winner Golden Horde and Diamond Jubilee Stakes winner Hello Youmzain as well as recent Lennox Stakes victor Space Blues in a very strong UK challenge.
Aidan O’Brien also sends Wichita and Lope Y Fernandez; but they might all be playing for places with EARTHLIGHT standing in their way and the crack French colt can uphold his unbeaten streak with further success.
The Shamardal colt continues to go from strength to strength following five wins last term – twice in Group Ones – and he was impressive again when making a winning reappearance in a Listed prize over course and distance last month, readily beating Wanaway by the thick end of three lengths.
That run will have him spot on for his return to Group One company and he likely still have much more still to give and his weight-for-age allowance ought to see him firmly in the mix as he bids for win number seven from seven starts.
3:25 Deauville – Prix Club Hipico Santiago – Prix Moonlight Cloud (Listed Race) (3yo) (Straight Course) (Turf) (3yo) 6f
Another strong UK presence in this contest and LAZULI is taken to bounce back from his disappointing run at Sandown last time where the Dubawi gelding could only finish fifth in the Coral Charge behind A’Ali.
Charlie Appleby’s charge had ran out an impressive winner over the same course and distance previous to that win, beating Keep Busy by three lengths in a Listed contest and might be happier back at this level which represents an easier task.
He’s probably better than he was able to show last time out and he’s given other chance to show what he’s capable of.
4:35 Deauville – Prix Valparaiso Sporting Club – Prix de Reux (Group 3) (4yo+) (Round Course) (Turf) (4yo+) 1m4½f
STYLEDARGENT has progressed this term, winning back-to-back races at Vichy and Lyon-Parilly where the Style Vendome gelding had the reopposing Sublimis behind him both times.
Jean-Pierre Gauvin’s charge might have found the sharper test against him next time when only finishing third behind Spirit Of Nelson in the recent Grand Prix De Vichy but could bounce back now returned to this longer trip.
This is arguably a weaker Group Three than that last outing and given his progressive profile he might be capable of better yet so he is chanced to bounce back here and he can resume winning ways faced with a more suitable test.
