Sunday’s NAP Of The Day

First instinct may tell you to look further down the market for an each-way punt in a race like this. However, maiden hurdles in Ireland, far more often than not, go to fancied horses near the head of the betting.

Barnaviddaun ran four times on the flat earlier this season, and has jumped well in placing second twice over hurdles in recent weeks. Vinnie Is Busy has also caught the eye in bumpers, and is fancied by many to get off the mark over obstacles at the first time of asking.

Both, however, will have to concede a decent amount of weight to ALL ABOUT JOE, who brings the best piece of hurdles form to the table. Although Eklat De Rire proved too classy on the day, Colm Murphy’s five-year-old stayed on really well to place second, beating a decent yard-stick in Multifactoral by 18-lengths.

That race was over 23-furlongs, but I can’t see why the drop back to this trip would cause All About Joe any problems. In fact, his extra staying power could come in most handy, as he looks to see off horses who’ve only really been running over the minimum distance. Even at 2/1, All About Joe offers plenty of value.
