Another cracking week of UK and Irish horse racing action goes to post over the course of the next seven days, and this week’s feature meeting sees the new jumps season pay its’ first visit to Cheltenham where the Showcase Meeting takes place.

Elsewhere, Doncaster hosts the Group One Vertem Futurity Trophy – formerly the Racing Post Trophy – on their Saturday racecard; while the Group Three duo of the St Simon Stakes and Horris Hill Stakes are both on the agenda on Saturday’s card at Newbury.

Meanwhile, on Sunday there is an early-season jumps highlight at Aintree with the Grade Two Old Roan Chase taking place on the card at the famous Merseyside track.

MONDAY 21 OCTOBER

The week gets underway with a four-fixture schedule of fixtures as racing in Ireland takes a day off, and there is afternoon action on the flat at both Windsor and Pontefract, where there is Listed action on the card; while there is also jumps racing from Plumpton.

Completing Monday’s fixture list is an all-weather card on the fibresand at Southwell where racing takes place under the floodlights.

Five UK and Irish horse racing fixtures take place on Tuesday, with afternoon flat racing action from the cards at Yarmouth and the Curragh in Ireland; while over the sticks there is racing from Exeter.

Meanwhile, the evening all-weather action sees racing on the Newcastle tapeta as well as from Kempton on polytrack.

There is also evening all-weather action on Wednesday with action under the floodlights on the Kempton polytrack, as well as from Wolverhampton on tapeta.

Meanwhile, on the all-weather there is evening racing under the floodlights from the meetings at Wolverhampton on tapeta, and also on the Chelmsford polytrack.
