Punters have four more meetings to puzzle over on Thursday where there is action going to post both on the flat and over the sticks as we inch closer to the weekend and a stellar line-up of fixtures looming large including the Arc Festival at Longchamp.

Thursday’s racing in the UK sees four meetings going to post where there is flat racing on the agenda from Salisbury on turf and Lingfield on their all-weather surface during the afternoon, while jumps action takes place at Warwick.

Completing the day’s quartet of fixtures in the evening is a meeting at Chelmsford on polytrack and our tipping team has picked out their Thursday racing free tips and best bets for the day’s meetings.

1:30 Warwick – Agetur UK Maiden Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl4 (4yo+) 2m5f

SAN FERMIN won a bumper at Market Rasen on just his second career start and first for Olly Murphy prior to shaping well switched to hurdles at Stratford back in June, finishing third behind Butte Montana and the Sans Frontieres gelding could improve back from a break and tackling a much longer trip.

He travelled well there for a long way but couldn’t match the speed of the winner and that experience of hurdling won’t have been lost on him so there could be significant improvement on the back of that effort.

This longer trip could also suit and he should play his part in the finish where he can get off the mark in this sphere to add to his bumper success.

2:35 Warwick – Ignite Handicap Hurdle Cl3 (3yo+ 0-125) 2m5f

FAINT HOPE might be worth chancing to get back on the scoresheet having found only a progressive rival too strong latest over this course and distance.

Grace Harris’ charge had won at Kempton back in May and the Midnight Legend mare has seen that form boosted; while she’s made the frame in three of her four subsequent starts and latterly finished a close runner-up behind An Tailliur where she only gave way over the last and couldn’t match the winner.

She can race from the same mark here so she’s 2lbs well-in given her rating is due to go up and a repeat of that effort assuming this doesn’t come too soon could see her get back to winning ways.

2:57 Salisbury – William Hill Lengthen Your Odds British EBF Novice Stakes (GBB Race) Cl4 (2yo) 1m

WIND YOUR NECK IN could be worth chancing against likely favourite Israr and David Evans’ charge could spring a minor upset.

The Decorated Knight colt has made the frame on both starts to date, finishing third on debut and going one better over course and distance earlier in the month where he was denied only by a short-head behind Jack Darcy where he was only run down late by the winner with the front two pulling well clear of the rest.

He has to prove as effective on this slower ground but if he handles the conditions he can take another forward step to get off the mark here while the booking of Ryan Moore certainly catches the eye so a big run wouldn’t come as a surprise.

4:42 Salisbury – William Hill Extra Place Races Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 1m2f

POET OF LIFE is given another chance having not run up to her best on his handicap debut at Sandown in August, but the Frankel colt had looked progressive before hand and could bounce back here.

2-2 under jockey Rab Havlin he had struck wins in novice company at Newbury and Doncaster prior to finishing fourth behind King Of Clubs latest, not seeing out the race and beaten from some way out.

It is possible the quicker ground on that occasion wasn’t to his liking and he could well resume his earlier winning form back on softer ground given both his wins have come on good to soft so these conditions may suit him better.

It is too soon to write off John and Thady Gosden’s charge in the wake of that effort and he’s worth giving another chance to resume his earlier progress.

5:00 Lingfield – Read Hollie Doyle’s Column On Restricted Novice Stakes (Horses In Bands C & D) (GBB) Cl5 (2yo) 7f

LAND OF EAGLES took a big step forward from his debut effort to finish a creditable fourth at Ascot latest and Adam West’s charge can progress further to get off the mark here.

The Havana Gold colt left his debut run behind in no uncertain terms, travelling well into that Ascot race and leading between the final two furlongs before being headed; but he kept on well and was only beaten just over two lengths behind Wanees at triple-figure odds.

He won’t be anything like that price today and likely to progress further in what looks an easier race he can get off the mark at the third attempt.

7:00 Chelmsford – Kingswood Group Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 5f

MAAJDAH has won two of his last three starts, most recently scoring by four lengths at Wolverhampton when fitted with a tongue-tie for the first time and the Shamardal filly can improve again upped in grade.

William Haggas’ charge had also struck at Yarmouth in August and he was bouncing back from a lesser effort when running out an easy winner over Trusty Rusty despite missing the break.

A 6lbs penalty for that success might not be enough to anchor him from staging a repeat given he’s due to go up another 4lbs on top in future races and he’s likely to have further improvement to come so ought to make her presence felt again despite this being a stronger race and the improving sort can follow up that last-time success.

7:30 Chelmsford – Free Streaming Every UK Race Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-75) 1m

SHINING AITCH could be the answer to a tricky handicao and the course and distance winner can resume winning ways.

Phil McBride’s Sepoy gelding has been in good form this term, winning an amateur’s race at Nottingham in July and being beaten only a short-head latest in the Leger Legends race at Doncaster when finishing runner-up to Natural Colour.

That run can be marked up given he met with trouble in running and back in a handicap off only 3lbs higher he can go one better with a repeat of that effort returning to this surface.
