IRISH RACING BEST BETS – TIPPERARY TIPS ON THURSDAY 6 MAY
4:55 Tipperary – Ryans Cleaning Event Specialists Handicap Hurdle (4yo+ 80-109) 3m
The extra distance seemed to suit THATS LIFEBUOY at Limerick on her return from a three-month break last month, running out a ready winner over Seangoell and the Fame And Glory mare could be worth chancing to follow up here.
John Ryan’s charge struck by eleven lengths on that occasion where she was making her handicap debut although she might have won even easier if not for a number of mistakes in her jumping. Nevertheless she was comfortable at the end and there could be more to come.
She’d been highly tried in maiden company previously behind the likes of Fakiera and Royal Kahala and on the evidence of her breakthrough success she may be fairly weighted still despite a 9lbs rise in the weight with the potential for further improvement trying three miles for the first time.
5:25 Tipperary – Tipperary Racecourse Handicap Chase (5yo+) 2m1½f
BRODER is 0-4 over fences thus far but the Brian Boru gelding might be worth siding with here to get off the mark and John Walsh’s charge can post a big effort as he bids for a first chase win.
A hurdles winner at Ballinrobe back in July 2019 his last run over fences saw him finish around nine lengths adrift of reopposing Jack Holiday who arrives here on a hat-trick; but the selection wasn’t given a hard time of things once his chance had gone and he was giving the winner 1lb at the weights with jockey allowances.
He now gets 7lbs from that rival for this latest clash which ought to see him close that gap and the slightly longer trip here might unlock some further improvement that sees him open his chase win account with the lightly-raced chaser still relatively unexposed.
6:30 Tipperary – Glenview And Rathbarry Stud Maiden Hunters Chase (4yo+) 2m7½f
SLIABH MHUIRE LASS has been a bit hit-or-miss under Rules but the Grandera mare did finish a very creditable runner-up when last seen in this sphere at Fairyhouse back in November, finding only one too good in Rose Milan.
A subsequent faller in the point-to-point field at Mainstown the ten-year old makes her return to a Rules environment in a very winnable hunters’ chase where her previous form over fences gives her solid claims of a return to winning ways and the application of blinkers may help her better focus her energies.
Grainne O’Connor‘s charge knows how to win having been successful in a number of point-to-point contests, but she is still searching for a first Rules win. Partnering with Derek O’Connor though is a plus and she could go close here if putting her best foot forward.
7:30 Tipperary – p2p.ie The Irish Point To Point Website (C & G) Point-To-Point INH Flat Race (4-7yo) 2m2f
THELASTHIGHKING steps out under Rules for the first time having shaped with promise on his sole start in the point-to-point ranks where the Roderic O’connor gelding found only one too good at Fairyhouse.
He was beaten four lengths on that occasion but travelled well in the race and switching to bumpers now Jim Dreaper’s charge could be up to making a winning debut with Patrick Mullins booked for the ride which might be significant and suggests he’s fancied to run well here.
