Horse Racing Tips

After a string of frustrating results and a host of placed runners, we’re confident that we’re going to beat the bookies with these four selections.

Our experts have given us their best horse racing tips at Doncaster and Newmarket on Friday as we attempt to beat the bookmakers.

CASPIAN QUEEN (2.45 Newmarket, 6f handicap)

Looks certain to appreciate the uphill finish judged by the way she’s been finishing off her recent races and was unlucky not to win at Goodwood last time when badly hampered at the start before finishing second.

Interesting that trainer Richard Hughes has opted to use the promising apprentice Angus Villiers as his 5lb claim effectively means the horse is running off a lower mark than in her previous two runs.

Still progressing, she can get her head in front for the first time this season.

AWAY HE GOES (3.55 Doncaster, 1m2f handicap)

Let us down a couple of weeks ago when well fancied for a hot handicap at Newbury but there appears to be valid excuses for that defeat.

He missed the break on that occasion before being rushed through the field early and pulling too hard on what was his first run for nearly a year.

The cheekpieces, which he was wearing for the first time, have been dispensed with and trainer Ismail Mohammed has booked leading jockey Ben Curtis to replace Sean Levey.

HEART OF SOUL (4.50 Newmarket, 1m4f handicap)

Would have found 1m2f too short for him at this course on his reappearance but was noted making good late gains after being badly hampered and outpaced early.

This trip will be much more to his liking and he’s now 2lb lower than for his last win. Any market support would be significant for this horse and he should improve markedly for his reappearance.

DUBIOUS AFFAIR (5.05 Doncaster, 1m6f handicap)

Won on her final start for Sir Michael Stoute last year and on her debut for Charlie Fellowes on her seasonal return at Yarmouth.

Travelled really well on that occasion and looks as if she could prove better than this mark of 79 in time.

Plenty of runners in here are exposed and inconsistent and Dubious Affair should round off the card with a winner
