SOLDIER TO FOLLOW (1.35 Bangor, 2m3f handicap hurdle)
Has run with promise for Toby Lawes over hurdles after running on the Flat for Andrew Balding.
Step up to this trip should suit as he was competitive over 1m6f on the level and he ran well at Huntingdon on his last start to finish third after being badly hampered by a faller three hurdles from home.
Stayed on strongly after that, which suggest improvement will come now upped in trip and a tonguestrap may also help as he has previously had wind surgery.
BEECHWOOD JUDE (3.25 Catterick, 1m4f handicap)
Been off the track for the best part of a year but had earlier been on an upward curve on the Flat, winning off a mark of 73 over two miles.
Only 4lb higher now but there could still be improvement in him off that mark. Slight worry that he drops back to 1m4f on his comeback but that is mitigated by the fact he goes well fresh, with form figures of 22 when returning from breaks of 57 days or more.
Has also been given wind surgery and trainer Keith Dalgliesh’s horses are starting to run well.
CENTREOFEXCELLENCE (3.35 Bangor, 2m1f handicap chase)
Makes his first start for Adrian Wintle and that’s a good thing given the trainer has won with three of his four runners in the last fortnight.
Return to this track is also a positive as he’s won on two of his three course starts and he’s also won off a 3lb higher mark than the one he competes off here.
Needs to return to his best but the switch of yards lends hope he can do just that.
CRAIGBURN (5.00 Yarmouth, 7f handicap)
Finished last on his latest start but that’s not a huge worry given he did exactly that three starts ago before winning on his penultimate start so consistency is not his strong point.
Goes well at Yarmouth with form figures of 321 and, while this is his first attempt at 7f for a while, it’s worth chancing him making a return to form once more.
