TUESDAY IRISH HORSE RACING TIPS – BEST BETS AT PUNCHESTOWN & GALWAY

3:05 Punchestown – Thank You Snowy For 40 Years At Punchestown Maiden Hurdle (4yo+) 2m4½f

DAKOTA BEAT won twice in bumpers last term, scoring wins at Kilbeggan and Hexham, and Gavin Cromwell’s charge has shown enough in four starts over hurdles to suggest he can pick up a small race or two.

The Beat Hollow gelding has filled the frame in all three starts since lockdown when contesting in maiden company, latterly finishing seven lengths’ third behind It Takes Time at Downpatrick and a repeat of that effort ought to see him in the mix again with this softer ground no issue.

This doesn’t look a particularly strong race and he arguably sets the standard amongst those with prior hurdling experience so every chance he can deliver a big run here with the potential to do better still over hurdles.

3:40 Punchestown – GVA Donal O’Buachalla Handicap Hurdle (4yo+) 2m4½f

SKY MARSHAL has been running better than the bare results suggest and Charles Byrne’s charge can get back to winning ways here.

The Lawman gelding posted his only win to date at Cork last month, beating Pike County, after which he posted successive runner-up efforts before going off the boil although he did take in a couple of useful races.

Fit from the flat after a 200-day absence, he ran a creditable sixth at Galway behind Great White Shark in the Guinness Hurdle during the Galway Festival and he posted another solid run in finishing fifth behind Decor Irlandais when last seen, not helped by late mistakes.

He drops back in trip for this latest outing and the handicapper has dropped him 1lb; he can go well as a result for his in-form yard with Cathal Landers’ 5lbs claim continuing to prove a bonus.

4:35 Galway – Donnellys Of Barna Rated Race (3yo+) 1m½f

TEED UP has already shown a fair amount of ability, finishing runner-up on each of his first two starts before going one better latest with a game win at Roscommon, scoring by a head over Departmentalize.

That form has taken a knock but the Gleneagles gelding can improve on that effort and is still unexposed so may well have better to come especially now as he goes up in trip for his in-form yard with the extra distance likely to suit.

Ken Condon’s charge gets weight all-round from this field of rivals also and he looks set for a big run where he can take advantage of his bottom weight to follow up that last win.

6:35 Galway – Ardilaun Hotel Oyster Stakes (Listed Race) (3yo+) 1m4f

MIGHTY BLUE was a very useful sort in France last term and the Authorized filly has already achieved a decent level in four starts since joining Joseph O’Brien which includes a last-time win at the Curragh last month.

The soft ground that day clearly helped as she readily saw off Effernock Fizz by three lengths, readily; that form was boosted when the runner-up scored next time out before contesting in Listed company and the selection can make her presence felt here stepping back up in class.

She is 2-2 in proper soft ground so conditions here will be ideal and it is plausible to think that there may be more to come from her given it remains relatively early days with her top yard. While she hasn’t shown her best in two previous start at this Listed level, she could prove a different proposition now faced with softer ground and every chance she can go close.
