TUESDAY IRISH RACING BEST BETS – TIPS FOR LIMERICK’S JUMPS FIXTURE
1:25 Limerick – Adare Manor Opportunity Maiden Hurdle (Div II) (4yo+) 2m
HARDWIRED placed twice from three starts in bumpers on softer ground and while he’s taken a couple of runs to get to grips with hurdling his latest outing at Wexford in deep ground was his best yet as he finished a good third behind Gibberwell.
Ted Walsh’s charge was beaten aroung three lengths on that occasion where he tried to make the most of his stamina from the front; but headed two from home he was unable to go with the winner although he kept on well.
A drop to two miles isn’t sure to suit, but he could be worth sticking with given this is likely to be a gruelling contest and his stamina could come to the fore; while his hurdles form to date is arguably the strongest on offer and he can go close.
2:25 Limerick – Croom Mares Handicap Hurdle (4yo+) 2m
PAULA’S PRAYER has been in good form back over hurdles of late, finishing runner-up at Downpatrick and Punchestown prior to landing a breakthrough win at Sligo and the Pour Moi mare is taken to go in again.
Conor O’Dwyer’s charge was getting on top of the race when her main rival fell at the last and she ran out a cosy winner in the end with a three lengths’ victory. That contest has thrown up a subsequent winner and a 5lbs rise in the ratings might not be enough to prevent her from following up assuming she handles this much deeper ground.
2:55 Limerick – Bruff Handicap Hurdle (4yo+ 80-102) 2m5f
BALLYMADUN shaped quite nicely on his recent reappearance at Fairyhouse earlier in the month, finishing runner-up to Wadiyatink Now and the Scorpion gelding could build on that return to resume winning ways.
Dermot McLoughlin’s charge last tasted victory at Downroyal back in March 2019, but last campaign didn’t see him at his best and he failed to trouble the judge in any of his five outings. However his latest run was an encouraging step back in the right direction and he can do better.
Beaten around three lengths on his first outing for eight months he should prove sharper now and he’s only been raised 1lb for that run she he can make his presence felt here if able to back up that latest performance.
