TUESDAY IRISH RACING TIPS – BEST BETS AT FAIRYHOUSE & TIPPERARY
2:30 Fairyhouse – Kilminfoyle House Stud Handicap (3yo+ 45-70) 7f
COUNT OF CARABASS seems to save his best form for this time of year and the veteran Ad Valorem gelding can get back on the mark here.
Hilary McLoughlin’s charge won twice on the all-weather last November and after a couple of lesser runs on turf earlier in the autumn he found only one too good on his last start at Limerick earlier this month behind Indiana Grey.
He was only beaten a neck on that occasion where he was run down late by the winner having possibly got to the front too soon; he’s up 4lbs for that but may be worth chancing to go one better this time around.
2:40 Tipperary – Ballykisteen Handicap Hurdle (4yo+ 80-116) 2m
Point to point winner KAREN’S GIFT made a winning switch to Rules when going in at Roscommon last month and the Jeremy mare can follow up here.
Barry Connell’s charge looked a fair prospect in getting the better of Call The Fairies, surviving a last hurdle mistake to score a shade readily and she can improve for that debut experience now she’ll be sharper fitness-wise with that run being her first in more than 630 days.
This initial rating now she goes handicapping could underestimate her potential to improve and it wouldn’t be a big surprise to see her in the mix.
3:40 Fairyhouse – fairyhouse.ie Handicap (3yo+ 45-65) 6f
ENTER THE RED hasn’t won for a while but could be worth sticking with to get back on the scoresheet having hit the crossbar the last twice.
The veteran Red Clubs gelding has been beaten only around one length each time, latterly behind Pretty Boy Floyd at the Curragh and racing off the same mark here he should be able to make his presence felt once more with no fears over the ground.
His previous runner-up finish at Limerick behind Born Invincible has thrown up a number of subsequent winners including hat-trick landing Angel Palanas who runs elsewhere on this card and so if continuing in similar form to his last couple of runs then he ought to go well here and can get back on the mark.
4:55 Tipperary – Golden Handicap Chase (Div II) (4yo+ 0-95) 2m4f
CRACK ON CORRIE has just one win to her name, gained at Galway almost three years ago; but the Oscar mare could be worth siding with to end her barren streak on the back of a couple of runner-up efforts recently.
Following a fair reappearance at Kilbeggan over a shorter trip Bill Austin’s charge has bagged successive silver medals at Listowel and Gowran Park respectively over timber and she makes her return to chasing for this outing where she has had just one previous try over the larger obstacles.
That run yielded a solid fourth behind Bridies Boy at Cork and if the ten-year old can transfer her recent solid performances over hurdles now back chasing from what could be a decent mark on her handicap chase debut then there’s every chance she can better that position.
