TUESDAY RACING BEST BETS – TIPS FOR CARLISLE, CATTERICK, KEMPTON & NEWCASTLE

1:00 Carlisle – Introducing Racing TV Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl3 (5yo+ 0-135) 3m2f

THOMAS MACDONAGH proved a progressive sort over hurdles last term, winning three times and contesting at the Cheltenham Festival and the Black Sam Bellamy gelding has shaped well on his three starts to date this term over fences.

He’s bettered his finishing position with each run and latterly struck at Catterick where he finished alone with his two rivals both failing to complete. It is debatable whether he’d have won had Eva’s Oskar not crashed out five out but he showed enough to suggest he’d could be up to winning races and there might be improvement to come following wind surgery.

Jamie Snowden’s charge could be worth chancing then to continue his progression and a mark of 132 back in a handicap might prove within his scope so he’s taken to strike again.

2:15 Catterick – Tunstall Handicap Chase Cl3 (5yo+ 0-140) 3m1f

WHO’S IN THE BOX has shown progressive form over fences this term, twice finishing runner-up before getting off the mark in this sphere with a gutsy win in the Lincolnshire National where the Witness Box gelding beat Cyclop by a neck.

Nick Kent’s charge has seen that form franked by the runner-up who has won and finished third in subsequent outings including the Somerset National and there could be better to come from the seven-year old who remains unexposed as a staying chaser.

He is 6lbs higher here in what looks a stronger contest, but with Charlie Hammond able to take off 3lbs and him getting in here off a feather weight he might be able to take advantage and further improvement ought to see him firmly in the mix.

Tuesday racing best bets. Catterick race over the sticks.

2:45 Catterick – catterickbridge.co.uk Handicap Hurdle (Challenger Two Mile Hurdle Series Qualifier) Cl3 (4yo+ 0-130) 1m7½f

PYRAMID PLACE missed an engagement at Warwick on Monday to come here and that move could pay dividends for Milton Harris’ charge who can follow up his recent success.

The Authorized gelding is 2-4 over hurdles, latterly scoring at Taunton last month where he ran out a four lengths’ victor over Torcello and hinting that were was better still to come from him. Despite hanging right he won comfortably and he gets a handy weight for age allowance in this contest which could prove significant in the conditions.

Open to further improvement he can make light work of an 8lbs rise in the weights for that success last time and no surprise to see him going close again here where he can strike again.

3:35 Carlisle – Racing TV Handicap Chase (Northern Lights Two Mile Chase Series Qualifier) Cl4 (5yo+ 0-120) 2m

DEMOPOLIS goes back over the larger obstacles having won well over hurdles when last seen at Hereford in December and Philip Hobbs’ charge can follow up here.

The progressive Poliglote gelding won his only previous start over fences at Ludlow twelve months ago when beating Cobra Commander after which he struck over timber at the same venue. He won by two lengths latest and there could be more to come from him as a chaser so he has to be of interest for his in-form yard reverting to the larger obstacles.

Thoroughly unexposed he handles the conditions and he can continue his good run of form to strike again here.

Tuesday racing best bets. Richard Johnson can ride a winner at Carlisle.

3:55 Kempton – Try Our New Price Boosts At Unibet Handicap Cl5 (4yo+ 0-75) 1m

MABRE bounced back to form when finding only one too good at this venue in December and the Make Believe gelding has continued his good spell at Newcastle with a win and runner-up effort in his last two outings.

David Evans’ charge beat Spiorad by a short-head to land his latest success on his penultimate start and he lost little caste in defeat when last seen being beaten just over one length by Arctic Vega, not helped by having to race wide.

A former course and distance winner he can compete here from the same mark as last time and likely to get more cover this time around he can go close here.

4:25 Kempton – Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap Cl4 (4yo+ 0-80) 2m

ZARAFSHAN appeared to relish the step up to this trip when scoring over course and distance last month and the Shamardal gelding can follow up from just 3lbs higher.

Emma Lavelle’s charge showed glimpses of some ability in hurdles following his move from Ireland and Dermot Weld, finishing runner-up at Stratford and third at Ludlow before switching to the all-weather where he finished a good fifth to Caribeno at Lingfield in January.

That form has been boosted and he latterly went in himself by a half-length over C&D where he scored a shade comfortably from Ivaquestion. There could be more to come from him and unexposed over this distance on the flat he can take advantage of a lenient rise in the weights to strike again.

4:40 Newcastle – Betway Handicap Cl3 (4yo+ 0-95) 1m4½f

HORN OF PLENTY found a jolt of improvement for having had a wind operation, scoring by three lengths at Wolverhampton back in November and the Golden Horn filly bounced back from a couple of lesser runs to resume winning ways back at that venue last month.

She overcame a slow start and trouble in running on that occasion, staying on well to register a half-length victory over My Girl Maggie who has gone close again since and reopposing Autumn War was back in fourth.

A 4lbs rise in the weights for that latest success could prove lenient and 2-2 on tapeta she can deliver another big performance to strike again on the surface.

Tuesday racing best bets. Newcastle host an evening meeting on the all-weather.

6:10 Newcastle – Play Ladbrokes 5-A-Side On Football Handicap Cl5 (3yo 0-75) 5f

IT JUST TAKES TIME struck over course and distance on New Years’ Eve where he was strong at the finish on his handicap debut and the Power gelding went close to a follow-up back at six furlongs here in January behind Elusive Treat.

Nigel Tinkler drops his charge back to the minimum trip for this latest outing which could see a return to winning ways with the likely strong pace sure to aid his cause given how he ran over this trip when scoring two runs ago.

He’s been raised 1lb in the weights following his latest run but the useful claim of Faye McManoman offsets the rise and leaves him looking fairly treated where he can improve to get back on track over a course and distance that so far has brought out the best in him.
