Arlecchino’s Gift (2:15 Salisbury)

He may be top weight, but ARLECCHINO’S GIFT looked one to keep following when winning well at Lingfield last time out and he can go in again here to land the double.

He was eye-catching in the way he quickened clear in the final furlong and if he repeats that effort he should take all the beating here. That was Dane O’Neill’s first ride on board him and he’s booked for the ride again here, which is another positive.

According to the betting his likeliest danger is Joe Tizzard’s, but he’s done all his best work on the all-weather and disappointed on turf on his debut. Arlecchino’s Gift was impressive when winning on good ground last month and he looks the more solid option to side with.

Arlecchino’s Gift won at Lingfield last month and can follow up at Salisbury on Tuesday.

Havaila (4:20 Salisbury)

Sir Michael Stoute is in superb form and sends two runners to Salisbury – Sunrise Valley (who features in our double) and HAVAILA.

His form might not look that great on paper, but if you look into it more it does look better. He finished last on debut at Salisbury, and didn’t really challenge the winner that day. However, all three of his rivals that day had already had at least one race under their belt and he only finished just over 5 lengths behind the winner. The first (Chairman) and second (Valsad) have since come out and won next time out, to give that form a further boost.

Valsad ran out an easy winner next time out, with Havaila thirteen lengths behind in second. He did finish comfortably clear of the other two in the field though, and it looks like Valsad could be a smart sort so he didn’t lose any credit going down to that rival.

Epsom Oak’s winning jockey Ryan Moore has been booked for the ride this time, which suggests they fancy his chances in this. There is nothing like the quality of Chairman or Valsad in this race and this looks a good opportunity to shed his maiden tag.

Sundayinmay (4:50 Salisbury)

The final race on the card at Salisbury doesn’t have much depth to it and it may pay to side with the proven quality of SUNDAYINMAY over this trip.

The filly has won three times from six attempts at this distance, including a last time out win at Lingfield, where she beat the impressive Tralee Hills in comfortable fashion.

Pride Of Nepal looks to be the danger to her, after winning at Goodwood last time out. However, that was over a shorter trip and with only four days rest in between, this race might come too soon for him.

Sundayinmay is the only horse in the race to have won over the trip, and with jockey Hayley Turner (who has been on board for two of the horses three career victories) in serious form herself over the past two weeks (38% strike-rate at time of writing), the filly looks a cracking bet to land the finale at Salisbury.

Hayler Turner

Hayler Turner can ride another winner on board Sundayinmay at Salisbury on Tuesday.

Dukedom (6:10 Chelmsford)

Finally, we’re off to the all-weather course at Chelmsford and it’s DUKEDOM who has caught our eye. John & Thady Gosden’s gelding has been frustrating to back so far, but this looks like an ideal opportunity to finally shed his maiden tag.

After a disappointing first season which featured two runner-up efforts, he returned with a much improved performance to finish second to Shining Blue at Leicester last month. That form has since been boosted, with that runner going in again to win at Ripon late last month.

Team Gosden are flying lately, with three winners from five runners over the weekend, and they’ve opted to put cheekpieces on him for the first time. If they can find some improvement, he should have a solid chance of winning here. This race features plenty of unknown sorts, but Dukedom has course experience and can nab this.

John Gosden has his team in red-hot form and they can land another winner with Dukedom on Tuesday.
