UK RACING TIPS ON WEDNESDAY – BEST BETS FOR THE DAY’S FLAT RACING CARDS
2:40 Yarmouth – Cazoo Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-80) 1m2f
THE THUNDERER registered back-to-back runner-up efforts for Chris Wall and Marco Botti earlier in the year and the Gleneagles gelding found another jolt of improvement to get off the mark latest, atoning for an earlier poor effort at Newmarket.
For his winning effort he ran out a two lengths’ victor over Jebel Dukhan over this course and distance, scoring a shade comfortably and there were gaps between those who finished behind who crossed the line at regular intervals.
The runner-up from that effort boosted the form next time out and while a 6lbs rise in the weights applies some pressure there could be further improvement to come from him and he can take another forward step now he has got his head in front and taking on more exposed and mostly out of form rivals.
2:50 Beverley – Clearanswer Call Centres EBF Maiden Stakes (GBB Race) Cl4 (2yo) 7½f
GOLDEN WAR had looked a useful prospect when finishing runner-up on debut and the Churchill colt could be worth chancing here to get off the mark at the fourth attempt.
Charlie Hills’ charge can be forgiven subsequent runs following that near miss behind Masekela, finding the company too hot in the Coventry Stakes on his next start before running a fair fifth to Modern Games latest where travelled well into the race before meeting with trouble in running and losing his chance.
That form doesn’t look too bad and with a bit more luck in running he may be able to shrug off those lesser efforts here to open his account.
4:00 Beverley – Jill Willows Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 7½f
SIBAAQ has two wins from three starts at this venue to his name and the Dark Angel gelding has been running consistently this term , making the frame on all four occasions including when scoring over course and distance on his seasonal return back in April.
Mark Johnston’s charge has since finished runner-up over C&D and third at Chester prior to chasing home Wishaah at Newmarket latest and this is a slightly weaker race as he drops into a Class 4 contest now from the same mark.
He has the prime draw to work from racing from the number one stall and there’d be no shock in seeing him turn in a big performance back at this venue.
4:15 Salisbury – British Stallion Studs EBF Upavon Fillies’ Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m2f
Thrice-raced GLORIA MUNDI can get back on track here having shaped as if stretched by the longer trip in the Ribblesdale Stakes last time out, but back at this shorter trip John and Thady Gosden’s charge can do better.
The Galileo filly had got off the mark at the first attempt despite looking in need of the run at Newbury in April, scoring by a nose from Hollywood Lady and she subsequently lost nothing in defeat when denied by a neck behind Eshaada at Newbury next time out in a Listed race.
She ran better than the bare result at Royal Ascot when last seen but her stamina appeared stretched over the longer trip and she could do better dropping back to ten furlongs with the prospect of a strong pace a positive so every chance she can bounce back.
7:25 Kempton – Unibet Casino Deposit £10 Get £40 Bonus Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 7f
WAKE UP HARRY gets weight all round from this field and the Le Havre gelding can get back to winning ways for Simon Dow.
A Lingfield winner back in January he had found only one too good on debut at Kempton behind Bill Payto and he followed up his success with a close third to Rafiki back at Lingfield in March.
He hasn’t quite managed to match that level of all-weather form switched to turf although he wasn’t beaten all that far latest when fifth behind Otago at Epsom where he didn’t look fully at ease on the track. He can do better however and the return to an artificial surface could be a positive move easing back 2lbs in the weights.
7:45 Ffos Las – Star Sports Bet Pipped?! Offer Handicap Cl4 (3yo 0-80) 1m
ONEONECHOP has had three starts over hurdles for David Pipe since joining the yard from France, but it might be worth chancing the Kheleyf colt to get off the mark for the stable switching to the flat.
He had been a useful sort in this sphere previously on the level, winning a number of races on the flat for Fred Rossi in France including bolting up by five lengths from National Velvet at Marseille in May before heading to Somerset and David Pipe.
Given his form on the flat in France he could be well treated setting out here from a rating of 79 and first-time blinkers in this sphere could provide a source of improvement so there’d be no surprise in seeing him go well.
