2:05 Dundalk – Crowne Plaza Hotel Dundalk Claiming Race (3yo+) 6f
The application of blinkers appears to have been the key to EARLS who has been in good form since the headgear went on, winning two of his last three starts on turf and Ed Lynam’s charge can continue his good work back on the all-weather.
The Dream Ahead gelding has posted wins at Sligo and Fairyhouse, latterly scoring over this trip when beating a useful sort in Glow Worm by just over two lengths. That form has been largely upheld with both the runner-up and third bagging subsequent silver medals on their respective next starts.
He has a further 5lbs on his back for this latest outing which will demand a shade more; but there may be further improvement to come and if the headgear continues to have a positive effect then every chance he can go close again back on this surface.

HEIROGLYPHIC could be worth chancing to get back on the scoresheet having shaped better than the bare result back from a break and returned to this surface last month.
Mick Halford’s charge won over course and distance last December, beating Turbo Command by a neck, but she struggled on turf over the summer and failed to trouble the judge in any of her three starts prior to taking a couple of months off.
Last seen finishing two lengths’ fourth behind Pulse Of Shanghai back over course and distance she met trouble in running late on and conceded first run; but she kept on well without matching the winner and she can compete from the same mark where first time cheekpieces are added to the usual tongue-tie.
The additional headgear could deliver a small jolt of improvement and the Exceed and Excel filly can make her presence felt here with Ronan Whelan back in the saddle.

OVERTAKE showed only moderate form prior to being fitted with cheekpieces for his latest start over this course and distance and the application of headgear appeared to deliver a jolt of improvement to the Overbury gelding and he posted his best run yet when beaten less than one length into the runner-up berth behind Jackmel.
Mick Halford’s charge has to back up that performance but the form took a boost when the winner struck again next time while the fourth horse home has also posted a subsequent win.
As such he could be worth chancing to build on that better effort last time out where from only 2lbs higher in the weights he can go one better for his in-form yard.

KINCH took a step back in the right direction when finding only one too good on his last run and the Dark Angel gelding is chanced to go one better.
Johnn Levins’ charge scored his last success over this course and distance back in March but having shaped well on his return from lockdown he went the wrong way and largely struggled on turf.
He was also well beaten back on the all-weather behind the reopposing Chagall in September but had the same rival behind latest when denied by a head by Scherzando and he may be able to uphold that form here where he meets Ed Lynam’s charge on better terms.
The winner of that last contest has won since and Chagall ran well in defeat here five days ago but has a poor draw to overcome; the selection then might be able to take advantage on these terms and with cheekpieces redeployed so looks capable of a big run.
