MARKET RASEN RACING TIPS
(12.55 Market Rasen)
DESTINEE ROYALE (11/4, Coral) won a Towcester bumper a couple of seasons ago and the Balko mare has shaped with some promise over hurdles in her three starts although her career to date has been punctuated by absences.
Runner-up on her latest return at Lingfield in January, Venetia Williams’ charge ran well again in defeat when finishing fourth behind Cill Anna at Wincanton where she was possibly just stretched by the longer trip having set out to make all.
The runner-up and third from that race have both won since to give the form a boost and she is an interesting runner here now switching to chasing from the same mark. She could thrive in this sphere and no surprise if she makes a winning debut over the larger obstacles in what looks a winnable contest.
(2.26 Market Rasen)
GOOD AND HARDY (4/1, Bet365) could be worth chancing to bounce back having possibly just been stretched by the longer trip when last seen at Warwick finishing fourth to Golden Sovereign.
Fergal O’Brien’s charge was only beaten around three lengths and he had been in good heart prior to that effort having won at Chepstow and Uttoxeter prior to a lesser effort back at the Midlands track in December which might just have come too soon for him.
The Westerner gelding sported cheekpieces for his last run and the headgear could help to elicit some further improvement; while the handicapper has eased him 1lb in the ratings. He has the services here of a good amateur rider whose claim should prove invaluable and every chance here that he can get back to winning ways.
12.25 – Falberto
12.55 – Destinee Royale
1.25 – Nanabelle
1.56 – Lady Master
2.26 – Good And Hardy
2.56 – Get On The Yager
3.26 – Across The Line
MUSSELBURGH RACING TIPS
CASIMIR DU CLOS (9/2, Paddy Power) is back at the level he scored his last chase win at Hexham in October, and Stuart Coltherd’s charge has since won over hurdles at the same track.
The Blue Bresil gelding ran a shocker on his last outing in this sphere at the Northumberland track in December; but he is quickly turned out back over fences having failed to fire in a jumpers’ bumper at Newcastle on Friday.
He might just have needed that outing on the back of ten weeks off and this is an easier return to the larger obstacles than he faced on his latest chase start. He could be worth chancing then to bounce back with ability to handle heavy ground already proven and in a field where all five have a question to answer he could come out on top.
The shorter trip might not have suited OUT FOR JUSTICE (9/2, Bet365) at Market Rasen when last seen, but Katy Price’s charge could get back on the winning trail returned to a more suitable distance.
The Beneficial gelding won twice over fences last summer, scoring wins at Bangor and Fontwell, and he ran better than the bare result on his latest start although he was ultimately a well-beaten third behind Balgemmois.
He’s been eased 1lb in the weights following that effort and the return to three miles could see him post a better effort if handling the heavy ground.
ROYAL COSMIC (11/2, Betway) can be given another chance having clipped heels and almost falling when last seen at this venue during Trials Weekend. Richard Fahey’s mare had won the time before over this course and distance and it might be worth giving the Wootton Bassett mare the opportunity to bounce back.
A useful sort on the flat where she was a soft ground winner, she has shown up well in her four starts to date over hurdles where she twice finished third prior to beating the reopposing Smart Lass here in January.
Her latest effort came in a stronger race than this and the form has been franked with a subsequent winner coming out of that contest. She could have more to offer over timber and given she handled more testing ground on the level she can improve and no surprise to see her pitching in at the business end.
1.40 – Casimir Du Clos
2.10 – Quart De Garde
2.40 – First Account
3.10 – Out For Justice
3.40 – Royal Cosmic
4.10 – Lord Scoundrel
4.40 – Summer Lightening
SOUTHWELL RACING TIPS
LIAMBA (8/1, Paddy Power) has a decent record on fibresand, winning back-to-back races over course and distance around the turn of the year; David O’Meara’s charge was denied in her hat-trick bid with a poor effort, and the Equiano mare wasn’t at her best when last seen over a longer trip last time out.
With three wins and seven placed efforts from her 14 starts on this surface, she ought to continue to give a good account with a visor reapplied and having been eased 1lb in the weights so every chance she could bounce back returning to six furlongs where she could get her own way up front.
If she gets an easy lead here, which may well prove the case, then she could prove tough to peg back and she can go well at a price.
QUEEN OF ALL (11/8, William Hill) ran out an impressive winner on debut at Kempton back in November and the Mukhadram filly can build on that performance to follow up here despite not being seen out since.
Richard Hughes’ charge overcame an awkward start and he was well on top at the finish where he won going away from the runner-up and hinting at better still to come. He’s penalised for that success but his good young rider’s 7lbs claim will prove invaluable and he can improve.
Assuming he handles this surface then he could make his presence felt and he looks to hold solid claims of a follow-up success here.
2.05 – Final Legacy
2.35 – Brooklyn Boy
3.05 – Liamba
3.35 – Asdaa
4.05 – Queen Of All
4.35 – Never Said Nothing
WINCANTON RACING TIPS
ADMIRAL’S SECRET (3/1, Betway) is a risky proposition who has refused to race on a couple of occasions; but Victor Dartnell’s charge is a useful sort when in the mood and he has been on his best behaviour since returning from seven months off the rack with a pair of runner-up efforts followed by a return to winning ways latest.
The Kayf Tara gelding got to within a length of the reopposing Molineaux over this course in January where he got 1lb from the winner. He then went one place better over this trip at Leicester later in the month with a defeat of Catamaran Du Seuil.
The third horse home in that race did the form no harm and he despite being another 1lb worse off with Molineaux here it could be the longer trip will suit him better and see him reverse the form with Colin Tizzard’s runner who is feared on account of his excellent record at the Somerset track.
FENLONS COURT (6/1, Paddy Power) could be worth chancing to build on his recent runner-up effort behind Fu Fu when returned to hurdles at Fontwell last month.
Seamus Mullins’ charge had won a hurdles race at that venue back in October 2018, but he has struggled since to make his mark over fences and he was well beaten when last seen in that sphere finishing ninth behind From The Heart at Taunton.
However, he bounced back returned to the smaller obstacles with that latest effort where he was only beaten just over one length having been run late by the eventual winner. The front pair had pulled some eleven lengths clear and a subsequent 5lbs rise could prove lenient so every chance he can go one better under his 3lbs claiming rider.
2.18 – Blue Monday
2.48 – Fidelio Vallis
3.18 – Admiral’s Secret
3.50 – Ask For Glory
4.20 – Minnie Escape
4.50 – Fenlons Court
5.20 – Art Mauresque
KEMPTON RACING TIPS
BROUGHTON EXCELS (3/1, Bet365) has run well on both starts at this venue with a win and placed effort over five furlongs.
Stuart Williams’ charge is winless in seven outings since his last success at Chelmsford over this trip back in September; but he went close latest to ending his losing run when denied only by a half-length into third behind Krazy Paving at that venue earlier in Feburary.
He wasn’t seen to best effect having arguably been given too much to do; but he finished off the race well and the form has been boosted since. Only 1lb higher here, there is likely to be a decent pace to this contest and he could go one better this time around.
PUNCTUATION (8/11, BetVictor) is likely to prove tough to beat having shaped with promise on debut last month.
That run came at this venue and the Dansili colt was only beaten a head behind To Nathaniel, starting slowly but running on well late and he just failed to overhaul the winner. The fourth horse home in that contest has won since to give the form a boost.
Andrew Balding’s charge sets the standard on that debut outing and likely to improve he can go one better here to open his account at the second attempt.
