WEDNESDAY HORSE RACING BEST BETS – TIPS FOR FAKENHAM, TAUNTON, NOTTINGHAM & KEMPTON
1:15 Nottingham – Covered By MansionBets Beaten By A Head Handicap Cl4 (3yo+ 0-85) 1m½f
FLYING WEST proved turf to be no issue when following up an earlier Wolverhampton win at Yarmouth earlier in the month and James Fanshawe’s charge looks worth sticking with to land her hat-trick.
Also a debut winner at Lingfield in June she has progressed well since going handicapping and won a shade cosily latest in softer conditions where she beat Galactic Glow by just over one length. She’s 5lbs higher here but may well improve again with these conditions ideal.
Tom Marquand is in the saddle again and is 2-2 on board the Cheveley Park runner; the pair can combine for another win to land the three-timer.
2:10 Taunton – Summerfield Developments Novices’ Hurdle (GBB Race) Cl4 (4yo+) 2m½f
ISOLATE would be a topical winner given the current Covid-19 situation and Alan King’s charge can strike here at the third attempt.
The Maxios gelding showes some ability on the level for Martyn Meade, making the frame three times from five starts in that sphere prior to switching to his current yard and he shaped well on his first try over obstacles when finding only one too good at Doncaster back in February.
Subsequntly third on his return from eight months off he may well have needed that outing and can do better with that run under his belt where this quicker ground ought to suit. He’s still very much an unexposed sort over hurdles and with the potential for better to come he looks worth chancing here to post a big run where he can get off the mark.
2:20 Nottingham – Bet 10 Get 20 With MansionBet Handicap Cl5 (3yo+ 0-75) 5f
Consistent ZAPPER CASS could be worth chancing to get back on the scoresheet and Michael Appleby’s dual course-winner can post a big run.
The Elusive City gelding has only once finished out of the frame this term and he registered a win at Chepstow in August. He found only one too good at Catterick latest in soft ground over six furlongs when denied by just over one length behind Redrozezorro and racing here off the same mark he might be able to go one better dropping back to the minimum trip.
He’s better on the all-weather certainly, but he can take advantage of his much lower turf rating and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him going close.
2:32 Fakenham – Greene King IPA Handicap Hurdle (Fakenham Double Up Bonus Race) Cl4 (4yo+ 0-110) 2m7½
VINNIES GETAWAY has wins to his name both between the flags and in bumpers and the Getaway gelding can add a hurdles victory to his record.
Olly Murphy’s charge won at the second attempt following his move to this yard, beating Durouyn by a wide margin and while he’s been lightly raced over hurdles since he has made the frame on all three starts over obstacles.
The latest of those came when finishing four lengths’ third behind Roar at Ludlow earlier in the month where he might have been given too much to do. But he ran on well from the rear and given it was his first run in nearly seven months he should come on for the outing.
This is a big step up in trip but he could well improve markedly for the emphasis on stamina and a softer surface and every chance he can make his presence felt here.
3:40 Taunton – Thatchers Cider Novices’ Handicap Chase (GBB Race) Cl4 (4yo+ 0-120) 2m2f
COURT ROYALE could be worth chancing to get back to winning returning to a quicker surface and Evan Williams’ charge ought to go close here.
A three-time hurdles winner the Court Cave gelding has shown up well on a number of occasions over the larger obstacles and he got off the mark in this sphere when successful at Stratford in July with a defeat of Atlantic Storm.
Softer ground was against him next time at Cartmel and again latterly at Uttoxeter although the way that race was run was also a negative and didn’t show him in the best light. He could do better though on this quicker surface while the handicapper has cut him a little slack so if back to his best he can go close here.
5:15 Kempton – Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Nursery Handicap (Div II) Cl5 (2yo 0-70) 6f
Soft ground was all against LIBERTINE BELLE at Newmarket last time in a very valuable sales race and Stuart Williams’ charge failed to get competitive; however the Helmet filly is chanced to bounce back from that disappointment back on an artificial surface.
That latest outing was only the third of her career, but she had won the time before when beating Professor Galant at Wolverhampton where she overcame trouble in running to score a shade readily. The third and fifth horses home in that race have both won since and she could prove well-treated off 70 as she makes her handicap debut now.
This is a more suitable assignment and every chance she could do better this time around and with Oisin Murphy taking the reins.
