WEDNESDAY IRISH RACING TIPS – BEST BETS AT PUNCHESTOWN & DUNDALK
1:55 Punchestown – Bet 10 Get 10 On BETDAQ Virtuals Rated Novice Hurdle (4yo+) 2m4½f
RUAILLE BUAILLE is given another chance to build on the promise she had shown previously, winning a Tramore bumper in August before making a successful switch to hurdling at this venue in September.
Willie Mullins’ charge ran out a five lengths’ winner on that occasion and she was unlucky not to have followed up at Galway earlier this month, blundering her way over the second last hurdle and then twice meeting with trouble in running when trying to get back into the contest where she eventually finished fourth.
That form has been boosted by the third horse home and there could be better to come from the daughter of Salutino so she is chanced to get back on the winning trail here.
2:55 Punchestown – BETDAQ 0% Commission Super Saturday Handicap Chase (4yo+ 0-116) 2m3½f
BAILY THUNDER made a winning transition to the larger obstacles when successful at Sligo in September, adding to his earlier hurdles win at the same venue and the Yorgunnabelucky gelding lost little caste in defeat back over fences at Ballinrobe earlier this month where he finished three lengths’ third behind Rueben James.
Mouse Morris’ charge sandwiched a fair fifth over hurdles at Roscommon inbetween those two chase starts and he has scope for better in this discipline so is taken to get back on the winning trail dropping down in trip ahead of his handicap debut where his initial 116 rating might underestimate him.
He fared better than the bare result latest having raced keenly, but he should get more of a pace this time around and no surprise to see him firmly in the mix.
6:00 Dundalk – HOLLYWOODBETS Handicap (Div I) (3yo+ 45-65) 7f
CAPPELLA LIATH didn’t show a great deal in a trio of maiden starts on turf earlier in the campaign, but Gerard Keane’s charge took a forward step when returning from a short break and switching to handicapping to finish a good fifth at Fairyhouse last month.
The Cappella Sansevero gelding was beaten around six lengths on that occasion, running on well from the back and he might benefit from this extra furlong. He’s since seen the form of that latest run largely being upheld with the winner making the frame in both his subsequent outings while the runner-up and third have both won or placed since.
A switch to polytrack could unlock another jolt of improvement and the handicapper has eased him 3lbs in the ratings following that last run so he could take advantage given he is still relatively unexposed and potentially open to further improvement.
7:00 Dundalk – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Auction Maiden (Plus 10 Race) (2yo) 6f
ANNA STRADA is still a maiden after five starts but the Havana Gold filly has shown enough to suggest she can win a race and this could be her first day in the sun.
Jessica Harrington’s charge has thrice made the frame in four starts on turf with her only disappointment to date coming in soft ground at Naas in August over this trip; but she could be worth another chance over the six furlongs having shown plenty of speed on better ground before and after that run.
Fourth latest here earlier in the month there might be better to come from her and the application of cheekpieces might help yield a jolt of improvement and she can go close here with plenty of pace likely for her to chase.
