Wednesday tips at Navan on the flat

Irish racing action continues on Wednesday with one fixture on the flat and our tipping team has picked out their Wednesday tips at Navan.

Fans of Irish horse racing have one meeting to look forward to on Wednesday where there is a flat racing card on the agenda at Navan to complement the day’s four UK racing fixtures.

With a relatively early 1.15pm start for an eight-race card which features some competitive handicap and maiden action our tipping team has picked out their Wednesday tips at Navan and best bets on the card.

1:15 Navan – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Median Auction Maiden (IRE Incentive Race) (2yo) 5½f

PAST TIME should find this company easier than the Listed contest she took in last time out and the Postponed filly can finally open her account.

Michael O’Callaghan’s charge had been steadily progressive beforehand, making the frame in a trio of previous starts and she can do better back in grade and trip.

She’s shown some decent speed in her past runs to suggest six furlongs will be no issue and with sights lowered there’d be no surprise in seeing her go well here.

2:20 Navan – Maiden (3yo+) 5f

NOTORIOUSLY RISKY has rattled the crossbar the last twice and it might be worth sticking with Fozzy Stack’s runner to make the breakthrough and end an eleven-run spell as a maiden.

The Starspangledbanner filly has shown some ability in her starts to date and latterly found only one too good at Tipperary when beaten by Swift Flight, not helped by a slow start and conceding first run.

She has less testing ground to contend with here and this doesn’t look quite as strong a race so the contest ought be a decent chance for her to open her account with a repeat of recent past efforts.

2:55 Navan – Blackcastle Handicap (3yo+ 50-85) 5f

TIDE OF TIME arrives here in good fettle and the Choisir gelding can get back on the scoresheet.

Ed Lynam’s charge has a decent record at this venue and was a winner at Bellewstown two starts ago before finding only one too good back here earlier in the month behind Sounds Of Spring.

He was only run down late by the winner that day having travelled well into the contest and the prospect of rain will hold no fears.

With only a 1lb rise in the weights to contend with he should continue to remain competitive and he can go close at a venue where he’s won four times previously.

4:05 Navan – Flower Hill Maiden (3yo+) 1m6f

BERET ROUGE has had just two starts on the flat but Willie Mullins’ charge could be worth siding with here and the dual-winning bumper performer can make her performance felt.

The Big Bad Bob mare finished fourth on her last run on the level at Tramore in August, beaten six lengths by Line Out who has won since along with the third horse home who has also registered a subsequent win so the form of that effort looks solid.

She’s had a hurdles start since but remains with potential back o n the flat and Shane Foley takes over in the saddle so there’d be no surprise to see a big run here.

5:15 Navan – Racing Again Sunday 7th November Handicap (Div II) (3yo+ 45-65) 1m6f

APRILS JOY was a Tramore winner in August on the flat and Gavin Cromwell’s charge can regain the winning thread here having run well in defeat at Bellewstown back in this sphere last month.

The Ask mare finished third on that latest occasion, looking to need a stiffer test in being beaten around two lengths by No Trouble where she finished the race off well having needed to be switched after meeting some trouble.

She’s only up 2lbs here which remains workable and the return to a longer trip ought to suit so every chance she can get back to winning ways here.
