Friday’s horse racing tips 30 December – 5/2 Paris can be Magic at Newcastle
Brian Healy gives his Friday free horse racing tips and best bets for 30 December racecards across the UK.
After a few busy days’ of horse racing action, Friday’s action represents a welcome change-of-pace with just two meetings scheduled to take place as horse racing in Ireland takes a day off following the high-class Christmas Festivals at Leopardstown and Limerick.
Friday’s action comes over the sticks at Taunton only following the loss of Haydock’s scheduled card; while Newcastle are racing on their all-weather surface.
Haydock (jumps) – 12.40 – 3.40pm (7 races) (ABANDONED)
Newcastle (flat, aw) – 12.50 – 4.20pm (8 races)
Taunton (jumps) – 1.00 – 4.00pm (7 races)
(1.50) PARIS MAGIC (5/2, Bet365) had been in decent form prior to running a shade below his best at Doncaster in October; but the Champs Elysees gelding quickly put that disappointing run behind him to get off the mark next time out over this course and distance earlier in December.
Hugo Palmer’s charge ran out a ready winner, beating Henry Croft by four lengths to land a maiden contest; and returning to handicap company from just 1lb higher, he can follow up under Josephine Gordon.
(2.20) ADALENE (Evens, Bet365) sets a good standard, having finished in the silver medal berth on each of her last three starts, and David Simcock’s charge could get off the mark here.
Just run down late in the day at Lingfield on her latest outing behind Dream Love, going down by a neck, the Makfi filly drops back in trip here and receives weight all round from her rivals; and in first-time blinkers she may be able to find sufficient improvement to see her home in front this time.
12.50 – Killermont Street
1.20 – Outrage
1.50 – Paris Magic
2.20 – Adalene
2.50 – Thello
3.20 – Swansway
3.50 – Lozah
4.20 – Dancin Alpha
(1.30) Several of these reoppose from a recent course and distance contest where Yur Next and DISTANT SOUND (9/2, Bet365) fought out the finish with the former prevailing; however, on these revised terms it could be Grace Harris’ charge who comes out on top this time around.
The Luso gelding has been in decent heart of late, finding the frame in each of his last three outings, and he and the winner last time had pulled clear of the rest. Although beaten four lengths, he is significantly better off at the weights now, and it may be enough to see him turn the tables.
(2.00) THE UNIT (10/3, Bet365) was progressive last term without winning, but he did post several creditable efforts in defeat and Alan King’s charge could be up to following up his win at Doncaster last month when beating Ballycrystal by a head.
The Gold Well gelding seemed to appreciate the longer trip there, so the slight drop in distance is a concern around this venue; but the runner-up has since gone on to win next time out, and with the prospect of further improvement he can win again.
1.00 – Mighty Missile
1.30 – Distant Sound
2.00 – The Unit
2.30 – Altesse De Guye
3.00 – Coillte Lass
3.30 – Boa Island
4.00 – Silver Streak
