After an almighty sway of support before the offer, ALRIGHT SUNSHINE (NAP) came within inches of landing the Old Borough Cup on Sprint Cup day at Haydock. Although this trip is almost half-a-mile further, this is a huge drop in quality for a horse who almost won a big Class Two last time out and he looks to be the best bet of the day sitting on 9/4.

Keith Dalgleish’s charge went into Haydock on the back of a fine victory at Musselburgh, where Alright Sunshine stretched clear in the closing stages of that 14 furlong contest. Danny Tudhope bided his time near the rear on the well-backed favourite, making his charge for home at the three-furlong pole. Alright Sunshine hung a little down the home straight, but looked to be doing enough to win, only for Time To Study to hang on and guts out a narrow win.

Alright Sunshine was giving Time To Study – a proven staying handicapper of the highest calibre – five pounds that day and only lost out by a neck, beating many highly-rated stayers in the process. Seinsational and Theglasgowwarrior look the principle dangers, but even after a four-pound rise in the weights, Alright Sunshine should have no trouble seeing off this field.
