Rob Wright (The Times)

1.50 Newbury – JUAN ELCANO (Evens MansionBet) still looked in need of the experience when a good second in group two company at Newmarket last time. This son of Frankel will relish any cut in the ground and will be tough to beat.

2.05 Ripon – Most of the runners in this cavalry charge are exposed but that is not the case with MARK’S CHOICE (16/1 Coral) and he can find the improvement required. He has twice won at this undulating track and, given his free-running style, will be well suited by the likely strong pace here.

2.25 Newbury – Stamina will be at a premium here and that will suit MORANDO (5/4 William Hill). He was out of his depth when a well-beaten eighth to Enable in the King George at Ascot last time but has his ideal conditions for the first time since winning the Ormonde Stakes by eight lengths at Chester in May.

2.45 Newmarket This is the only race in Britain restricted to grey horses and always provides a fine sight. CHATHAM HOUSE (6/1 William Hill) can come out on top. With several front-runners in this field, the race could be set up for the strong finish of Chatham House.

3.00 Newbury – PATTIE (11/1 Ladbrokes) can strike after falling in the weights. Unsuited by a slow early pace when fifth at Chelmsford last time, she shaped well when third in a better race at this track last month.

3.15 Ripon – Megan Nicholls, daughter of the champion jumps trainer Paul, is a highly able apprentice jockey and can take this valuable pot on board GREAT PROSPECTOR (14/1 Coral). A classy juvenile two years ago, this gelding lost his way last term but came down the weights as a result and has shaped well on his past three starts. He is good value at 16-1 with Coral and Ladbrokes.

3.35 Newbury – HEY GAMAN (3/1 Ladbrokes) was collared by Sir Dancealot at Goodwood but is the more likely of the pair to handle softer ground here and, on 3lb better terms, can turn the tables.

Tony Paley (The Guardian)

2.05 Ripon – Alaadel (15/2 Coral)
2.25 Newbury – Morando (5/4 William Hill)
2.45 Newmarket – Lethal Agent (7/1 Coral)
3.00 Newbury – Ripp Orf (11/4 Ladbrokes)
3.15 Ripon – Lahore (NAP) (10/1 Coral)
3.35 Newbury – Safe Voyage (2/1 MansionBet)

Templegate (The Sun)
1.50 Newbury – Juan Elcano (Evens MansionBet)
2.05 Ripon – Flying Pursuit (8/1 Coral)
2.25 Newbury – Morando (5/4 William Hill)
2.45 Newmarket – Glenn Coco (7/1 MansionBet)
