Wissahickon is a very good horse on the all-weather, but he hasn’t been seen since being comfortably beaten on All-Weather Finals Day at Lingfield and John Gosden’s Cambridgeshire winner has plenty to prove at this sort of level. Pondus is a progressive-looking three-year-old who ran well last time out, but I’m surprised at the decision to remain over ten furlongs, considering he was doing his best work in the final furlong behind Fox Chairman at Newbury.

Raise You is another improving youngster who could give a good account of himself. Yet, all conditions of the race seem to be firmly in ADDEYBB’S favour and any price better than evens should be snapped up immediately.

After a few months in the doldrums, William Haggas’ five-year-old bounced back to top form at Royal Ascot, powering home to win a very good renewal of the Windsor Castle Stakes. Addeybb was then backed into favouritism for the York Stakes and Danny Tudhope’s mount seemed to be going well. At a crucial moment, Addeybb found himself trapped on the inside rail and once Tudhope had manoeuvred into open air, Elarqam was home and hosed.

Addeybb is a horse who needs soft ground. This seems to be his best trip and he’s one-from-one around this track. No trainer has a better strike rate around this track than William Haggas and Richard Kingscote isn’t called Mr Haydock for nothing. Once again, if you can get even money or better, take it!
