While I’m fully prepared to take some of Aidan O’Brien’s hot-pots on earlier on Saturday’s card at Leopardstown, everything looks set for LANCASTER HOUSE (NAP) to continue his rapid rise to prominence with a first Group win in the Boomerang Stakes.

Unraced at two, O’Brien had to wait until Galway this year to give this son of Galileo his first career start. What followed was a procession, as Lancaster House bounded clear of his rivals over eight-and-a-half furlongs to secure a wide-length victory.

Donnacha O’Brien then guided the odds-on favourite to an easy win at Tipperary at the end of August, before Lancaster House extended his unbeaten record into a third race on Monday at Listowel, kicking clear of some decent rivals rounding the bend to secure a maiden Listed triumph.

Aidan O’Brien is a tactful, patient trainer and, judging by the time it’s taken him to get Lancaster House out on the track, there have been issues with this horse behind the scenes. So, to see him come out again after just four days’ rest is a big pointer as to how Lancaster House must be going at home and dropping back to a mile looks a shrewd move for a horse who seems to have plenty of one-mile pace.

Many of the rivals in behind the favourite look thoroughly exposed, with the exception of Space Traveler, who could pose the biggest danger. Yet, he’s not nearly attractive enough to tear me away from Lancaster House and, at 2/1, he’s probably my best bet of the day.
