Martineo will be much more at home back down over seven furlongs after blowing out over a mile at Newmarket, but John Butler’s charge is still yet to break his maiden tag on turf and clearly prefers artificial surfaces. I Am A Dreamer is of interest with the first-time visor on, but it’s with his fellow three-year-old, GOLDEN FORCE where I’m going to pin my colours.

Clive Cox’s charge progressed nicely during the second half of his juvenile campaign, following two narrow defeats with a maiden victory up at Windsor on his final start. Golden Force was pitched straight into handicaps on his return to action and, after two comfortable defeats, Cox decided to push his charge up to seven furlongs last time out.

Golden Force was a 9/1 shot at Leicester, with few expecting him to pull up any trees. Yet, the son of Lethal Force took to his extended trip well, staying on gamely under pressure to secure the narrowest of victories. A three-pound rise doesn’t look excessive and an inside draw could be ideal for positive horse who likes to sit on the pace. Both Cox and jockey, Oisin Murphy have been in solid form of late and I’d be surprised if Golden Force didn’t have a little more to give over this trip.
