Horse racing treble
Sometimes it makes sense to back a series of horses to win as individual bets, or back them each way. You can, however, get more winnings for your stake if you link individual each way bets together, combining three specific bets (or six if you’re backing each way) into a treble.

Why back an each way treble?
As mentioned in the opening paragraph, backing three winners as an each way treble will win you back more cash than backing each winner on an individual basis. Say you place three £2 each way bets on three selections at 2/1, 3/1 and 4/1 – if all three win you’d receive back (£1 @ 2/1 = £3, £1 @ 1/2 = £1.50, £1 @ 3/1 = £4, £1 @ 3/4 = £1.75, £1 @ 4/1 = £5, £1 @ Evens = £2) £17.25 for your £6 stake.
If you’d placed a £6 each way treble instead you would have gotten back (£3 @ 2/1 = £9, £3 @ 1/2 = £4.50, £9 @ 3/1 = £36, £4.50 @ 3/4 = £7.88, £36 @ 4/1 = £180, £7.88 @ Evens = £15.75) £195.75 – quite a difference. Of course backing each way means you will not lose everything should one of your horses fail to win.
How to place an each way treble bet
First, you need to sign up for an account at an online sports book if you do not already have one. Look for our recommendations concerning which sites you should use.
Head on over to your chosen site and find the horse racing section, then find the races at which your three treble selections are running. Click on each selection to add them to your betting slip – do not click ‘bet now’ until all three have been selected.
At the bottom of your slip you should find that a selection of multiples options has appeared. Click on the ‘trebles’ selection and enter your stake. There should be a tick box or drop down menu marked ‘each way’ or ‘E/W’.
Make sure that this is ticked or selected before you complete the placement of your bet, as it indicates that you are placing an each way treble, rather than a win treble.
