Tuesday 24 January horse racing tips – 9/4 Dream Flyer can score at Wetherby
Brian Healy gives his Tuesday horse racing tips and best bets for the day’s UK racecards, where the day’s NAP runs at Wetherby.
Tuesday’s fixture list of horse racing meetings again plays host to three racecards, and there is jumps racing action at both Wetherby and Leicester; while on the all-weather there is a meeting on the fibresand at Southwell.
Leicester (jumps) – 1.20 – 4.20pm (7 races)
Wetherby (jumps) – 1.30 – 4.00pm (6 races)
Southwell (flat, aw) – 1.40 – 4.10pm (6 races)
(1.50) SONOFTHEKING (13/2, Bet365) is still relatively lightly-raced over fences, but the former point-winner has been in good heart of late.
The King’s Theatre gelding returned from a break at Taunton in December to go close behind Uncle Petit, where he was just caught late; that form is decent, and he went one better at Wincanton earlier this month when beating Trehan Cross by a neck despite idling in front.
He may have been in front longer than ideal there, and this slightly shorter trip should pose no issue; while raised 5lbs for that last outing, he could still have more to offer in this sphere and is taken to follow up.
(2.20) TAGRITA (3/1, Bet365) can continue to progress over fences having won both starts to date over the larger obstacles, including when beating the reopposing The Organist at Huntingdon on her debut.
Paul Nicholls’ charge followed up that success with a win at Exeter, beating Sainte Ladylime over a trip arguably short of her best; but she posted a near two-lengths verdict, and with the prospect of more to come back up in trip she can find the improvement needed to go close in this contest taking on more established rivals.
1.20 – Carnspindle
1.50 – Sonoftheking
2.20 – Tagrita
2.50 – Global Stage
3.20 – A Hare Breath
3.50 – Zante
4.20 – Flobury
(2.30) DREAM FLYER (9/4, Bet365) was a winner here back in December 2014, but the Moscow Society gelding hasn’t stood much racing since with only a handful of starts following that win.
He has also changed hands, and having gone with plenty of zest on his debut for Keith Dalgleish he may be worth sticking with for this latest outing. Making his return from seven months off at Musselburgh earlier in the month, he ran out a four length winner from Golden Investment, and a 7lbs rise in the weights may not be enough to thwart a repeat if he can turn in a similar effort.
(3.30) MONBEG RIVER (4/1, Bet365) hadn’t been disgraced in efforts this term at Wetherby and Cheltenham, facing a tough task on the latter occasion behind Un Beau Roman, when being brought down behind Call Me Vic at Aintree in December where he was still going well.
Martin Todhunter’s charge could gains some compensation here if none the worse for that spill, and while he has to prove stamina for this trip he shaped at the Liverpool venue that he wouldn’t be inconvenienced by the distance.
Racing off the same mark, he can go close in an open-looking contest.
1.30 – Most Celebrated
2.00 – Captain Mowbray
2.30 – Dream Flyer
3.00 – Total Assets
3.30 – Monbeg River
4.00 – Rockportian
(2.10) WIMBOLDSLEY (10/1, Bet365) is a dual-scorer over this venue, adding the second of his successes when overcoming a pace bias to score with something up his sleeve at this distance, and Scott Dixon’s charge can follow up despite shouldering a penalty here.
The Milk It Mick gelding only scored by a neck on that occasion, idling in front off the strong pace he had set; but he had enough in reserve to hold off the runner-up and while this demands a shade more he is in form and proven on the surface so another bold bid should be assured.
1.40 – Daily Trader
2.10 – Wimboldsley
2.40 – Dungannon
3.10 – Razin’ Hell
3.40 – L’Inganno Felice
4.10 – Little Choosey
