5:20pm Galway COLM QUINN BMW Novice Hurdle (Listed Race) 2m
Such has been Willie Mullins’ dominance in the novice hurdles here at Galway, it was a huge surprise when a favourite of his was turned over in the opener on day one. Road To Dubai will be out to cause an upset on Tuesday, but FAST BUCK (NAP) seems to have everything going in his favour and I can’t see Ireland’s Champion Trainer being denied in day two’s curtain-raiser.
An experienced runner on the flat during his time in France, Fast Buck made an excellent impression on his stable debut for Willie Mullins, placing second behind Fakir D’Oudairies in a 22-horse Maiden Hurdle at Cork. After a surprising defeat at Naas on his second outing, Mullins kept his charge on ice, ensuring he would carry his novice status into his second season over hurdles.
Fast Buck got off the mark at Listowel last month, making all before easing to a ten-length victory over a far inferior field. Paul Townend barely moved in the saddle that day, as Mullins’ five-year-old clocked an RPR of 130.There’s clearly plenty more to come from Fast Buck and he can be Willie Mullins’ fourth winner of this Listed contest in the last five years. Even at even money, Fast Buck looks a cracking bet!
