Miss Celestial ran in a couple of Grouped races as a two-year-old, but has only been seen once so far this season, finishing last in an, albeit, high calibre handicap at Epsom. Storm Meldoy comes into this in excellent form, having won three times in his last four starts, but Ali Stronge’s six-year-old has been bumped up to a career-high mark and this is a much better race than those he has won this term.
So, with little appealing in opposition, the stage looks set for HERITAGE to seal a hat-trick of Bath victories and – considering the strength of her rivals and the size of the field – 6/4 looks an extremely appealing price for a filly with much more to give.
Clive Cox’s charge was very unlucky to run into some useful sorts as a two-year-old, placing second behind Manuela De Vega and a close fourth behind Queen Power on her final two juvenile starts. After running well in defeat in four Class Three three-year-old handicaps, Heritage finally got off the mark by carrying odds of 1/ 4 to victory over a fairly poor field here at Bath.
Heritage’s second visit to Bath proved equally as fruitful two weeks ago, with Liam Keniry’s mount comfortably holding another modest field at bay to seal a second-straight victory. The favourite will have to cope with a six-pound penalty on Wednesday, but Hertiage clocked an RPR of 91 during that bloodless triumph the last day and should be capable of shouldering this burned.
Keniry has been in excellent form of late, winning seven of his last 20 rides and Cox has a strike rate of over 20% with his runners here at Bath. It would be a huge shock to me if Heritage got turned over.
