Form & Verdict
Grade 2 novice hurdle winner nearly two years ago; has run well in all his four chases, the latest behind two much respected rivals in a 2m7f handicap at Newbury (good; cheekpieces added); solid chance and today's slower ground will suit.

2-14 record over fences includes some big runs, including when he hacked up at Ascot (3m5f, good) in November and took second in the Midlands National at Uttoxeter (4m2f, soft) on latest outing; the Ascot race was going this way round but so was his penultimate start when he kept jumping to his left at Musselburgh (12l second to Transmission); that's a niggling concern but he's handicapped to go well if this is another good day.

Only 2-13 over fences and doesn't score too highly for consistency; however, flashes of his form read well, notably his second to Haiti Couleurs in last year's 3m6f National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham and a clearcut win at Ascot this season; beaten 12l by a revitalised winner at right-handed Musselburgh last time (3m7f, good to soft) but he jumped left at a good few of his fences that day; last year Mr Vango became the first top weight to win since Bonanza Boy in 1991; handles all ground; each-way claims.

Only 2-12 over fences but he was second in the 3m6f NH Chase at Cheltenham (good to soft; has won on soft) last March and breezed home 11l in front at Ascot (3m5f, good) in November; disappointing in the Welsh National (rather getting squeezed out at the start didn't help) but he has a big shout if reverting to the Ascot level of performance.

Form & Verdict
Faced tough tasks to start with over fences and then made it third-time lucky from the front at Perth (2m4f, soft; jumped well); effectively off the same mark here with Freddie Gingell taking off 3lb and the longer trip should work in his favour.

Has won two of his six chase starts but was beaten off this mark in a six-runner handicap at Wincanton last time when in the new cheekpieces (3m1f, heavy); unraced beyond that trip but he's one who doesn't do much in a hurry and today's marathon trip could be up his street.

Strike-rate of 5-10 under rules and has won two of his last three chases; it wasn't pretty here last time over C&D (good to soft) but he got the job done off just 3lb lower and today's slower surface could benefit him; cheekpieces added.

Form & Verdict
Won a bumper and added a hurdle when appreciating the step up to 3m at Wetherby (3m, good to soft) where he was strong through the line; 6lb higher for this switch to fences but he's an improving type.

Pulled up on consecutive appearances towards end of last season but seemed to run well until tiring on soft ground at Ayr last time; could be better suited by the less-testing conditions here; not ruled out.

Tailed off (fences) and pulled up (hurdles) on his last two starts; a major turnaround is necessary but he runs off the same mark as when winning this race last year; not ruled out and the betting may be interesting.

Ayr winner last April (3m, good to soft); disappointing both runs since, last time finishing well-beaten third of four back over fences; suited by good/good to soft ground.
