Horse Racing Tips – Daily Double

We’re top for tips at RacingTips, and if you visit our site on a daily basis, then among the stellar tips you will receive is our pick for the day’s best each way double.

Find all of our daily racing tips here.

What is an each way double?

An each way bet is two bets in one – a bet on a horse to win a race, and a bet on the same horse to place (to finish second, third or fourth depending upon how many runners there are in the race) at, typically, one fifth or one quarter of the starting (to win) price of the horse. If you back a horse ‘each way’ for £1 then your total stake will be £2, as there are two bets.

An each way double means you are backing two horses each way. The winnings from one selection will become the stake of the other bet.

How can I place an each way double bet?

If you’ve an account at an online sports book, then simply head to that site to place your bet. If not, then follow our tips to sign up at one of the online bookies that we recommend.

Once you’re at the site find the meeting at which your first selection is running, and then the specific race. Click on the horse’s name to add it to your bet slip. There should be a tick-box marked ‘E/W’ – click this to tick the box to indicate that you wish to back this horse each way. You should see the each way odds reduction (‘1/4’ means the winning odds are quartered) and the number of places that count as a ‘place’ finish. DO NOT as yet enter your stake or select ‘Place Bet’.

Repeat this process with your second selection, so that both horses now appear on your bet slip, and each has the ‘E/W’ box ticked. Once you have done this, an extra option should appear on your bet slip marked ‘Doubles’. If it does not appear you may have to click ‘Show all multiples’ which will then show you all multiple bets that are available.

Enter your stake in the available box and click ‘place bet’ to place your wager. Note that some online betting sites will include the ‘E/W’ tick box within the ‘Doubles’ option, meaning that you do not have to indicate that you wish to back both horses each way on an individual basis.

When do you post your each way double?

Our racing experts examine that day’s race cards at all meetings to choose which two mounts are best suited for the daily each way double. Their selections are then posted on the site early in the morning, well before any of that day’s races have come under starter’s orders.
