Point winner (3m, soft to heavy) who was 2-3 over hurdles (wins at 2m6f/2m4f on good to soft/heavy); made a bad mistake and pulled up on chase debut at Ffos Las (3m1f, soft) in October; plenty to prove in a race of this nature but he was a hot favourite at Ffos Las and things could click for this very lightly raced 7yo now in cheekpieces.

Easily won slow-ground Irish point on debut in December 2023 and launched rules career with two hurdle wins here (2m6f/2m4f) towards end of last year; just a respectable fourth on handicap hurdle debut here (3m, soft) in January and absent since but looks a good prospect for chasing.

Verdict

Venetia Williams has won two of the last four runnings and her two runners make the most appeal. CAMULUS (nap) has been off since completing a double last February but an absence is rarely a barrier to success when it comes to Williams’ horses and this half-brother to Irish National winner Freewheelin Dylan could have untapped potential at marathon distances. Charlie Deutsch rides and he gets the nod ahead of stablemate Georges Saint, for whom the step up in trip looks a good move. Jacks Parrot stays well and is third choice, while the very lightly raced 7yo Rosscahill is an intriguing contender on his second chase start.[Ben Hutton]
