Thursday’s 10,708/1 Lucky 15 – Our UK Racing Best Bets On August 11

Horse Racing Tips On Thursday, August 11

The Racing League returns for its second session this Thursday at Lingfield. All four of our selections for our 10,708/1 Lucky 15 best bets come from that evening all-weather showpiece.

Mumayaz (5.40 Lingfield)

He has been gradually been backed throughout the afternoon 24 hours in advance of the Racing League meeting, but there is a reason behind the money for MUMAYAZ.

Mark Loughnane’s charge remains a double-figure price for the second race on the card, but though his form since wind surgery in May has taken somewhat of a nosedive, his chances do not rest solely on recent efforts. 6f on turf, which have been the conditions for his last two runs, are not reflective of his ideal conditions.

The three-year-old was trained by Kevin Prendergast before moving to Loughnane in March and his last race for that yard saw him win on the all-weather at Dundalk, his first experience of such underfoot. He also raced on polytrack on his British debut when fourth of seven to Queen Aminatu and though he did not look like winning that day, he put in a respectable performance.

He is now 7lb lower than that day and only 3lb above his winning mark when rampant in Ireland and he could well feature once again with the handicapper having gone easy on him.

Le Forban (6.40 Lingfield)

Though not bred for this trip, there is no doubt LE FORBAN wants at least this far.

He will be running in the blue of Team Scotland, currently fourth in the standings. He comes here on a notable run, for while he was last of 12 in a very competitive Glorious Goodwood handicap last time out, he has won his two races this season on the all-weather. Both came at Lingfield.

In the first, he dead-heated over 1m, but has proven since that he wants further than that trip. In between two fifth-placed efforts on turf, he scored here over 1m2f, finishing off very strongly to score by 2¼ lengths. That was off a mark of 76 and saw him go up 7lb.

He has been below that level on both runs since, but he is back down to a mark of 81 and may keep improving over this trip on polytrack. He is priced up temptingly each-way.

Jewel Maker (7.10 Lingfield)

This is the most open betting contest of the evening, but JEWEL MAKER looks the answer for the Yorkshire team currently sat in second place in the standings.

Tim Easterby’s charge has faced a variety of trips for this yard, beginning as a printer racing over as little as 5f back in 2019/20, before initially being reinvented as a miler. However, another switch has been flipped in the meantime and it may just extend this seven-year-old’s racing career for even longer.

He won over 1m1f at Carlisle at the start of July before dropping back to 1m at Haydock and Pontefract. He was only beaten a head at the latter venue, but just four days ago he was stepped up to 1m2f back at Haydock and won readily by 2½ lengths.

He is up another 4lb after a very brief layoff, but regular racing has not seemed to harm him. If anything, it will mean he remains fighting fit here and he could easily strike once again.

Reverend Hubert (8.10 Lingfield)

The final race of the day will be a climb to the finish over 2m. For this, proven stamina could be important and so REVERAND HUBERT looks a fair price to challenge.

Team London And The South are out in the front in the early stages of this year’s Racing League and they could well double down in the finale. Though this four-year-old has been slightly below his best of late, you do not have to go far back into his formbook to see some top performances.

He won his first two starts of this season, both over about 2m. The first came on the all-weather at Chelmsford before he also won on turf at Doncaster. Those wins saw him go up 8lb and it is possible that races over 1m6f at Newmarket and Ascot have been slightly on the quick side for him.

In between those, he was ninth in the Northumberland Vase, but is now 2lb lower than that day in a vastly less competitive race. There are a fair few in here with stamina to prove and Reverend Hubert could be right in amongst them in a scrap.
