Justified market confidence with a gritty display at Stratford (good to soft) with the front two a long way clear; well bred and should go on to better things.

Looked promising when winning a bumper on her debut in August 2023 but it took her an age to get going over hurdles, eventually winning a Uttoxeter maiden last September; hasn't gone on from that in three subsequent runs and returns following a break.

0-11 over hurdles but did little wrong before succumbing to an improver at Worcester (2m7f, good) in July and has now finished second three consecutive times; versatile regarding ground, and a leading contender on today's terms.

Beaten when unseating in her first Irish point and the horse she beat next time is now 0-9 in those races; however, she was only 10-1 for a Cheltenham bumper in April and reportedly lost her action there; she's of some interest.

Largely consistent efforts this term, most recently close second at Lingfield (2m) behind a rival who was completing a hat-trick; won this race in 2024 (on heavy ground) and has solid claims despite being on a much higher mark now.

Posted the most encouraging of her three qualifying runs for Anthony Charlton when keeping-on fourth at Wincanton (1m7f, heavy) last month; not obviously well treated for this stable/handicap debut but could have untapped potential over the longer trip.

No further successes since beating Batwomen by a neck in a Fontwell mares' novice hurdle in December 2023 (2m3f, heavy); mixed signals over fences of late as to whether this step up to 3m is needed, and cheekpieces wrought no improvement from her on one previous application.

Verdict

This is not an easy bumper to unravel. Betty’s Tiara might well be up to defying a penalty for her Stratford win but a chance is taken on EASY TO FOLLOW, who coped well with testing conditions when competitive in all her Irish points. Lady Jago is also of interest for obvious reasons.[Alistair Jones]
