Form & Verdict
Dual heavy-ground chase winner for previous yard; gave a reasonable account when fourth of ten in 2m4f novice on recent stable debut; the switch to this sharper inner hurdles track wouldn't necessarily play to his strengths.

Without a win since 2021 but comes here after two very respectable thirds on slow ground at Carlisle (3m) this year and will appreciate this ease in grade; probably won't be far away.

Form & Verdict
Won C&D maiden (soft; Haveanothergoflo 3l back in third) in March, before producing another pleasing effort at Perth (runner-up) the following month; entitled to take a step forward from his recent comeback run, so could have a positive role to play.

Form & Verdict
Has shown ability in bumpers and over hurdles, faring best, despite being short of room late on, when third in a Cartmel maiden (2m6f, good) in May; pulled up next time in June but given a break since; market helpful.

A better chaser than hurdler and defied 12st with a game performance at Carlisle (3m, good); 7lb rise might not be too damaging and he'll be fine back at 2m4f.

Form & Verdict
Point winner; twice placed over hurdles, including when a close third to Kingston Bridge over C&D (first-time tongue-tie) in March; off since, and had wind surgery; still unexposed so no surprise if improvement is forthcoming on handicap debut.

Inconsistent sort who was pulled up on sole chase start and beaten before the trip may have been an issue in 3m1f maiden hurdle in November; however, that run may have come too soon, 12 days after a promising comeback in a handicap hurdle at Carlisle, and this point winner is not written off.

Form & Verdict
Out of depth at Cheltenham last month but had shown promise until taking a tired final-flight fall at Kelso (form has worked out well) the time before; this looks more realistic on handicap debut even if testing ground poses a new question.

Close second at Doncaster (2m3f, good to soft) in November and bounced back from Ascot blip when third at Carlisle (2m, good to soft) recently, albeit soundly beaten by the first two; the step back up in trip might help and he's a possible player if conditions suit; unproven on soft ground.

Unproven on soft ground and tailed off at Ascot last time, although that was in a hot Class 2; went close in Class 3 at Doncaster (2m3f, good to soft) two starts ago and not ruled out now back down in grade.

Verdict

There isn’t much to choose between KINGSTON BRIDGE and Haveanothergoflo on the evidence of their previous C&D clash in March. The latter has undergone wind surgery since but his old rival has the benefit of a recent run, and should prove much sharper for that, so could prove capable of confirming superiority. A basic case can be made for any of the other three in a tight-looking contest. [Mark Rowntree]
