Glorious Goodwood is one of the biggest summer racing festivals and a natural target for horses that ran at Royal Ascot the previous month. With five days of top quality televised racing and three Group 1 contests, bookmakers are keen to compete for your business with some fantastic Glorious Goodwood betting offers.

The Group 1 Sussex Stakes and Goodwood Cup both featured in the top 10 races for betting turnover between July and September in 2020. Attracting even more bets was the Stewards’ Cup, Saturday’s big sprint handicap. Only the Ebor at York, Europe’s richest flat race handicap, brought higher betting turnover for a handicap race during the same period.

Best Glorious Goodwood Festival Betting Offers in 2021

The very latest Glorious Goodwood betting offers will be published here as soon as they become available but check out our free bets page for some excellent bookmaker offers to take advantage of for now.

Glorious Goodwood Free Bets

The Goodwood Festival is a great opportunity to expand your portfolio of bookmaker accounts and take advantage of the Glorious Goodwood free bets on offer. All the leading bookmakers offer free bets to new customers but these are generally increased during the big meetings such as Royal Ascot or the Cheltenham Festival.

There are some pitfalls to watch out for in the small print so it is important to pay attention to detail. Some free bets must be placed within a set period, often 7 days. Others stipulate that your free bets must be “turned over” a set number of times before they can be withdrawn as cash. There are also minimum odds, usually 1/2, so you cannot put your Goodwood Free Bet on a red-hot favourite and immediately withdraw any winnings.

An increasingly popular special bookmaker offer is massively enhanced Glorious Goodwood odds for the big race favourite. Goodwood Special Offers are likely to include Stradivarius in the Goodwood Cup and Battaash in the King George Stakes as they go for record-breaking fifth victories in a row. The special price is to a maximum stake (typically £1 but sometimes higher) but do check the terms and conditions carefully.

Glorious Goodwood Betting Guide

Goodwood 2020 Race Schedule Day One: Tuesday 28th July

The opening day of Glorious Goodwood is all about Stradivarius who stands head and shoulders above his rivals in the staying division. A fourth consecutive victory in the Goodwood Cup seems to be his for the taking after cruising to a third Ascot Gold Cup last month. A fourth win will make him the most successful Goodwood Cup horse in history, eclipsing the three victories of Double Trigger (1995, 1997, 1998).

There could be another familiar name in the winner’s enclosure after the Group 2 Lennox Stakes. Sir Dancealot has won this race for the past two seasons and is on course for a hat-trick. The Group 2 Vintage Stakes has produced numerous Classic winners over the years including Derby winner Sir Percy (2005) and 2000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold (2015). There are certain to be some talented colts in the field again this year and the form could be worth following.

1.50 Unibet Handicap 4yo plus

2.25 Qatar Vintage Stakes 2yo (Group 2) 7f

3.00 Lennox Stakes 3yo plus (Group 2) 7f

3.35 Qatar Goodwood Cup 3yo plus (Group 1) 2m

4.10 EBF Maiden Stakes 2yo 6f

4.45 Chelsea Barracks Handicap 4yo plus 5f

5.15 Unibet Fillies’ Handicap 3yo plus 1m

Goodwood 2020 Race Schedule Day Two: Wednesday 29th July

The Sussex Stakes is billed as the race of the week with a potential clash between Siskin and Palace Pier. They have emerged as the leading three-year-old milers with victories in the Irish 2000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes respectively. The challenge of the older horses is led by last year’s runner-up Circus Maximus and Godolphin’s Terebellum who fought out an epic dual in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.

ITV viewers will be treated to the full spectrum of flat racing here from the opening Goodwood Handicap over two and a half miles to a five furlong dash in the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes. Alan King, better known as a jump racing trainer, saddled three winners at Royal Ascot and will be targeting the Goodwood Handicap, a race often won by National Hunt trainers.

1.50 Unibet Goodwood Handicap 3yo plus 2m 4½f

2.25 Unibet Handicap 3yo 1m 4f

3.00 Markel Insurance Molecomb Stakes 2yo plus (Group 3) 5f

3.35 Qatar Sussex Stakes 3yo plus (Group 1) 1m

4.10 EBF Alice Keppel Fillies’ Conditions Stakes 2yo 5f

4.45 British EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap 3yo plus 1m 2f

5.55 Charlton Handicap 3yo plus 7f

Goodwood 2020 Race Schedule Day Three: Thursday 30th July

The Nassau Stakes is the highlight of Ladies’ day at Glorious Goodwood 2020. Last year’s renewal provided a shock result when Deirdre won at 20-1, the first Group 1 winner in Britain trained in Japan since Agnes World won the July Cup in 2000. Aidan O’Brien and John Gosden are dominant in the three-year-old fillies department this season and they have each won this race four times previously.

The Group 3 action on day three features the Gordon Stakes for three-year-olds and the Richmond Stakes for juveniles. The roll of honour for the Gordon Stakes makes impressive reading and includes the likes of Highland Reel (2015) and Crystal Ocean (2017). This race could be on the agenda for several Derby “also rans” who will be bidding to redeem their reputations.

1.50 Unibet Handicap 3yo 1m 2f

2.25 Richmond Stakes 2yo (Group 3) 6f

3.00 Qatar Gordon Stakes 3yo (Group 3) 1m 4f

3.35 Qatar Nassau Stakes 3yo plus (Group 1) 1m 2f

4.10 Telegraph Nursery Handicap 2yo 7f

4.45 Markel Insurance British EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes 2yo 7f

5.15 Halnaker Handicap 3yo 5f

Goodwood 2020 Race Schedule Day Four: Friday 31st July

The star of the show on Friday is undoubtedly Battaash as he seeks a record fourth consecutive win in the King George Stakes. Rather like Stradivarius, he was a cut above his rivals at Royal Ascot and will start odds-on favourite at Goodwood.

The big betting race for your Goodwood Tips is the Golden Mile. A big field is almost guaranteed for this valuable prize but history suggests it is wise to side with horses drawn low. The turn into the straight can leave horses drawn high with a lot of ground to make up and they often encounter traffic problems.

1.50 Theo Fennell Oak Tree Stakes 3yo plus (Group 3) 7f

2.25 Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes 3yo (Group 3) 1m

3.00 Unibet Golden Mile 3yo plus 1m

3.35 Qatar King George Stakes 3yo plus (Group 2) 5f

4.10 Unibet Nursery Handicap 2yo 6f

4.40 Queen’s Plate Glorious Stakes 4yo plus (Group 3) 1m 4f

5.15 TDN Australia Handicap 3yo 1m 3f

Goodwood 2020 Race Schedule Day Five: Saturday 1st August

The highlight of the final day of Glorious Goodwood 2020 is the Stewards’ Cup, one of the most competitive handicap sprints of the season. There will be a wide range of Goodwood Tips for a race that has produced shock winners like Conquest (2008) at 40-1 and Lancelot Du Lac (2017) at 25-1. Favourite backers were successful with their Stewards’ Cup bets on Khaadem 12 months’ ago, an improving three-year-old trained by Charles Hills.

The Lillie Langtry Stakes provides the final Group race action of the week with some of the best staying fillies in action. Lancashire Oaks winner Manuela De Vega could bid to go one better than last year when second to Enbihaar.

1.50 Qatar Stewards’ Sprint Stakes Handicap 3yo plus 6f

2.25 Qatar Summer Handicap 3yo plus 1m 6f

3.00 Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes 3yo plus (Group 2) 1m 6f

3.40 Unibet Stewards’ Cup 3yo plus 6f

4.15 Qatar EBF Stallions Maiden Stakes 2yo 7f

4.50 Qatar Handicap 3yo 7f

5.25 Qatar Apprentice Handicap 3yo plus 1m 1f
