Saturday – Royal Ascot Day 5 Tips Round-up

The highlight of the final day of Royal Ascot 2022 is the Group 1 Platinum Jubilee Stakes over six furlongs, run for the first time this year in honour of Her Majesty’s 70 years aboard the British throne. As well as this, it is a perfect opportunity to take advantage of this years’ Ascot free bet offers.

The Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes is for top class middle-distance horses and notable past winners include Doyen (2004), Harbinger (2010) and Her Majesty The Queen’s Dartmouth (2016). The Group 3 Jersey Stakes is another race with an impressive roll of honour and often produces future Group 1 winners.

The Chesham Stakes is the first significant race for juveniles over seven furlongs and the final big handicap of the week is the six furlong Wokingham Stakes. Royal Ascot day 5 tips will try to solve the puzzle of the Wokingham, one of the most competitive sprint handicaps of the season. The Golden Gates Stakes is another tricky handicap for punters before the Royal Ascot day 5 races conclude with the marathon Queen Alexandra Stakes.

Chesham Stakes Tips

The Listed Chesham Stakes was extended from six to seven furlongs in 1996 and is now regarded as a trial for potential 2000 Guineas contenders. Churchill won both races in 2016-2017 with Pinatubo (2019) placed in the Guineas and the St James’s Palace Stakes as a three-year-old.

Jersey Stakes Tips

The Group 3 Jersey Stakes is for three-year-olds over seven furlongs and is often won by high class horses. Ribchester (2016) and Expert Eye (2018) both went on to win Group 1 races over a mile later in their careers.

Hardwicke Stakes Tips

The Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes is for four-year-olds and upwards over a mile and a half. Sir Michael Stoute has a remarkable record in this race with eleven victories, most recently scoring with Crystal Ocean in 2018.

Platinum Jubilee Stakes Tips

The Platinum Jubilee Stakes was known as the Diamond Jubilee Stakes until this season and has been restricted to older horses since the introduction of the Commonwealth Cup in 2015. Notable past winners include Choisir (2003), Black Caviar (2012) and Blue Point (2019).

Wokingham Stakes Tips

The Wokingham Stakes is the big sprint handicap of the week over six furlongs. Cape Byron (2019) is the only winning favourite in the past ten years with the three-yea-old Rohaan winning in impressive fashion a year ago.

Golden Gates Stakes Tips

The Golden Gates Handicap was run for the first time in 2020 and is confined to three-year-olds over ten furlongs. That first running produced a 20-1 shock with Highland Chief defeating Tritonic and the favourite Global Storm.

Queen Alexandra Stakes Tips

The Royal meeting closes with the Queen Alexandra Stakes over two and three-quarter miles, the longest flat race in the British racing calendar. Brown Jack famously won the race six times between 1929 and 1934.
