BELLEWSTOWN BEST BETS ON TUESDAY – 24 AUGUST IRISH RACING TIPS
4:20 Bellewstown – Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden (IRE Incentive Race) (2yo) 1m
CHICAGO SOLDIER has shaped with promise on all starts, twice finishing fourth including in a Group Three behind the classy Point Lonsdale at Leopardstown and Jonny Murtagh’s charge can get off the mark here.
The Declaration Of War colt most recently found only Mctigue too good back at Leopardstown latest, going down by a head having been caught on the line. On that evidence it shouldn’t be long before he’s winning and this slightly shorter trip could see him get home in front for his in-form stable.
5:25 Bellewstown – Gerry Hughes Memorial Handicap (Div I) (4yo+ 45-65) 1m
ACCESSORY has yet to win a race but recent efforts suggest the Epaulette gelding may not have too much longer to wait for a breakthrough success and Paul Flynn’s charge is taken to get off the mark here.
The four-year old has finished runner-up in each of his last two starts at Gowran Park and Cork latterly, beaten three lengths on the latter occasion behind Ten Ten Twenty. However his earlier head second behind Beleaguerment has since been boosted with a couple of subsequent winners coming out of that race.
He’s only 1lb higher than when posting that last runner-up effort and if continuing in his current form he ought to go close again.
6:25 Bellewstown – Lougher Handicap (3yo 50-80) 1m
CHURCH MOUNTAIN showed improved form when dropping back to this trip to get off the mark at Galway earlier in the month and the Pride Of Dubai gelding can follow up that success here.
Denis Hogan’s charge ran out a half-length winner over Ten Ten Twenty – a dual-winner since – where he was dropping back to one mile having been campaigning over further and he saw the race out really well having made most of the running.
He’s 5lbs higher here while Joey Sheridan’s claim is reduced so he’ll need a shade more improvement in order to follow up although given his performance last time that is very possible and ought to make his presence felt again.
6:55 Bellewstown – J H McLoughlin Oil Handicap (3yo+ 50-85) 5f
POET’S PRIDE is given another chance having been in good form previously and the Arcano gelding could get back to winning ways here.
David Marnane’s charge struck his last victory at Dundalk back in March but had been running consistently well in defeat following that victory, making the frame in four of his five subsequent efforts includign at Tipperary in June.
He was disappointing over six furlongs when last seen however at Cork, beating only one home although he went off like a scalded cat on that occasion and failed to see out the race. Now back at the minimum trip and having been eased 1lb in the weights he could do better here with Nathan Crosse able to take another 3lbs off.
