Cheltenham Festival Focus – Trials Day
Punters were treated to plenty of excellent races over the past week, with Trials Day at Cheltenham headlining proceedings.
Paisley Park retained his Cleeve Hurdle title with a fantastic performance at Cheltenham, and is now many people’s banker to win a second Stayers’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. Trials day also saw Santini advertise his claims for the Gold Cup with victory in the Cotswold Chase. The likes of Harry Senior, Simply The Betts and Mister Fisher also laid down markers of their own for National Hunt racing’s feature festival.
Over in Ireland, Carefully Selected booked his spot in the National Hunt Chase with a hard-fought victory over three miles. The star performer of the week, though, was Benie Des Dieux, who cruised to an effortless triumph in the Galmoy Hurdle at Gowran Park.
In the latest edition of his Cheltenham Festival Focus series for Racing Tips, Daryl Carter runs through the key talking points from the week that was, and provides readers with another ante-post bet for Cheltenham.
