CORK RACING TIPS ON WEDNESDAY – IRISH RACING BEST BETS ON THE FLAT
4:05 Cork – Yeomanstown Stud “Camacho” Irish EBF (Fillies) Maiden (IRE Incentive Race) (2yo) 1m
TREVAUNANCE shaped well on debut at Gowran Park last month, showing plenty to work on and the Muhaarar filly is likely to improve for that experience.
Jessica Harrington’s charge finished fourth on that occasion, nearest the finish having ran green early before keeping on well and that form was given a boost when the winner ran well for third next time in a Group Three.
Stepping up to one mile now could show her in better light and she’s entitled to come on for that debut so she looks to hold solid claims here having also won a barrier trial at Dundalk.
5:05 Cork – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden (2yo) 6f
ECOUTEZ looks hard to oppose here with the potential for improvement on the back of a very promising debut third at Navan eleven days ago.
Jessica Harrington’s charge was beaten less than two lengths by Up Above on that occasion, running green under pressure having travelled quite well into the race but keeping on to snatch third and there’s sure to be more to come from the Exceed and Excel filly with that under her belt.
Runner-up to the potentially smart Pennine Hills previously in a Dundalk barrier trial she has made a positive start to her career and this step up to six furlongs looks sure to suit so she can improve at the second attempt to get off the mark now.
5:35 Cork – Follow Us On Instagram Handicap (3yo+) 6f
PRETTY SMART won back-to-back over course and distance a few weeks ago, scoring readily both times, but the Dandy Man mare was thwarted in her hat-trick attempt by a slow start at Naas last month and she couldn’t recover to get involved, eventually finishing fourth.
Philip Martin’s charge can be given another chance and she was only a neck behind a subsequent winner in that last run so could still be in form and a return to this track and trip can coincide with a better effort this time around.
Eased 2lbs in the weights following that run and with her yard in good form at present there’d be no surprise in seeing her post a big effort as she bids to get back on the scoresheet.
6:35 Cork – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Premier Nursery Handicap (Premier Handicap) (2yo) 7f
HAPIPI GO LUCKY has struggled in a couple of hot races in recent weeks but might find this smaller field and easier grade more to his liking and Johnny Murtagh’s charge can get back on the up.
The Mehmas filly got off the mark at the second attempt when outpointing Ultramarine by a short-head at Fairyhouse in July but faltered in the Ballyhane Stakes from a low draw and a crack at a Group Two latest proved far too much for her to handle.
This is much more suitable now making her handicap debut and her opening rating of 82 could prove workable given she could still have some improvement to offer so there’d be no shock in seeing her post a big effort in what looks a relatively modest line-up for this level.
