DAY TWO TOTE PLACEPOT TIPS AT GLORIOUS GOODWOOD
1:50 Goodwood – Unibet “15 To Go” Handicap Cl2 (3yo 0-105) 1m4f
5 KINGS PRINCE – Won his first two starts either side of a break and far from disgraced tackling Listed company latest at Hamilton despite not appearing to handle the track. Had won on heavy ground on debut and while this track might not play to his strengths he can give a good account.
6 NAGANO – Already a dual-winner this term and was unlucky not to finish closer latest at Royal Ascot in the King George V Stakes, outpaced but running on when badly hampered. Has won on good to soft which offers hope he’ll handle conditions and he’s open to improvement so could post a big run.
9 KOLISI – Getting better with each run and got off the mark at the third attempt when successful at Salisbury last month in soft ground, scoring easily. That form was boosted when the runner-up won next time and he’s in very good hands so further improvement certainly can’t be ruled out and he can make his presence felt here.
2:25 Goodwood – Whispering Angel Oak Tree Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies & Mares) Cl1 (3yo+) 7f
2 BOUNCE THE BLUES – Dual-winner in Ireland on soft ground and has been running well without success since joining this yard, going close at Lingfield in a Group Three contest in May and posting a very good third latest behind Century Dream at Windsor. Drop back to seven furlongs looks a good move and with softer ground no problem she ought to run well.
8 ONASSIS – Shaped as if six furlongs was too sharp for her last time out on better ground and can do better back at seven furlongs with conditions to suit. She was a three-time winner last term including over course and distance in Listed company on heavy ground and she can give a good account of herself in this contest where she’s more favoured by the conditions and likely in better form than she’s been able to show this campaign.
3:00 Goodwood – Markel Molecomb Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (2yo) 5f
2 ARMOR – Landed a punt at Doncaster on debut and ran better than the bare result when finishing fifth to Chipotle in the Windsor Castle Stakes on his next start. Both runs have come on quicker ground and he needs to prove as effective on a slow surface but he’s open to improvement and no surprise to see him in the shake-up for top connections.
6 FEARBY – Has stepped up on a promising debut fourth on the all-weather to register a brace of victories which include in a Listed race at Sandown latest on soft ground where he won readily from a couple of these. Rookie yard is flying at present and that run sets the standard; a repeat ought to see him in the mix and he can land a hat-trick.
3:35 Goodwood – Qatar Sussex Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) Cl1 (3yo+) 1m
1 CENTURY DREAM – Course and distance winner last term and in top form this campaign where he won at Windsor prior to chasing home Tilsit at Ascot in the Summer Mile. Has been well beaten on all attempts at this top level and will need a career best to win this; but he’s in good form and handles conditions well so there’d be no surprise if he were to out-run his odds.
9 POETIC FLARE – Has been in very good form this term, winning the 2000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes in impressive fashion and almost landed the Irish 2000 Guineas when denied only by a short-head. His Royal Ascot win saw him register the biggest winning margin in 30 years and he looks hard to beat in his quest for another Group One victory with the softer ground no issue despite taking on his elders for the first time here.
4:10 Goodwood – British Stallion Studs Alice Keppel EBF Fillies’ Conditions Stakes (GBB Race) Cl2 (2yo) 5f
1 ANADORA – Debut winner at Newcastle in April and has run well in defeat on both subsequent outings latterly in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot where she finished around five lengths’ seventh behind Sandrine. That represents some strong form and she could have further improvement to come so has to be respected.
6 LA FEILE – Overcame inexperience to win readily on debut at Beverley two weeks ago, making up plenty of late ground to win comfortably and while that bare form probably leaves her with a bit to find there could be significant improvement to come from her and she remains totally unexposed. That win came on soft ground and the runner-up has run well in a Listed race in Ireland, and given the inexperience she overcame to score readily she can step up here to make her presence felt.
4:45 Goodwood – British EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 1m2f
2 AUNTY BRIDY – A winner and a placed effort for Jim Bolger in Ireland prior to joining this yard where she’s failed to fire in both starts although she has tackled Group Three and Listed company in those runs. Now tries handicapping from a potentially fair mark and upped to a trip that might suit her better so could be worth an interest to turn in a big effort here.
7 ACHELOIS – Winner of two of her last three starts, latterly running out a three lengths’ winner from Arafi at Ascot earlier in the month where she scored with plenty up her sleeve. Further step up in trip is unlikely to present an issue and she’s run well on soft ground previously so looks to have solid claims here despite a 6lbs rise in the weights.
