4:30 Dundalk – Willie Buckley Memorial Handicap (4yo+) 1m2½f
BLACKSTONE CLIFF has been in good form in recent outings and John McConnell’s charge is taken to get back to winning ways having not been seen to best effect behind reopposing Spelga nine days ago.
The Canford Cliffs gelding had won the time before, beating Dance Emperor by two lengths over this course and distance and he was given too much to do latest where he was beaten three lengths but he caught the eye running on well from the back.
The selection is much better off at the weights now and could gain revenge although he may need a stronger pace to be seen at his best. Nevertheless with an 8lbs pull at the weights he’s taken to come out on top this time around and it would be no surprise to see him get back on the scoresheet.
5:00 Dundalk – Crowne Plaza Hotel Dundalk Handicap (4yo+) 1m
KOYBIG hasn’t won for a while but recent outings suggest he might be getting ready to strike and the Kodiac gelding might be worth chancing to do so here.
David Marnane’s charge registered his last win when scoring on turf at Killarney back in July 2019 but he’s proven a largely reliable sort who often gives his running although the handicapper has for some time appeared to have his measure.
Latest runs however from this mark has seen him finish fourth and runner-up over course and distance, latterly finishing just a half-length runner-up behind Howyoulikethat three weeks ago where he was headed in the last strides.
The third and fourth from that race have both upheld the form and a repeat of that last effort might be good enough to see him get back on the scoresheet despite his wide draw not being ideal.
6:30 Dundalk – Hollywoodbets Horse Racing And Sports Betting Race (4yo+) 7f
All of the sextet that will go to post in this race are returning from breaks and it might be worth chancing SAN ANDREAS to resume from his absence with a win with Joseph O’Brien’s charge coming back from eight months off.
The Dark Angel gelding has shown some smart form and he boasts two wins at this venue including one at the distance twelve months ago where he beat Laugh A Minute by four lengths to whom he also gave 3lbs.
That rival reopposes here from 6lbs worse terms and while the O’Brien runner cut little ice in three runs on turf over the summer he comes out best here at the weights and he ought to go well if fully tuned up in the race he won twelve months ago.
7:00 Dundalk – Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap (4yo+ 45-65) 7f
AHUNDREDNOTOUT emerged from a spell in the doldrums to win on just his second start for Leanne Breen, scoring by a neck over six furlongs here earlier in the month and the Mount Nelson gelding could follow up here if turning in a similar effort.
Having possibly needed her previous run and stable debut she appeared to run out a ready winner latest from Annabelle Rock and Pillar who is a useful yardstick at this level.
He’s clearly limited as are most of these rivals with none of them being any great shakes; but he at least arrives in some form unlike many and while a 5lbs rise in the weights demands more he can go close if his wide draw doesn’t prove a hindrance.
