Wednesday’s Extra Place Each-Way Tips

Jamie Codd is two-from-three aboard Shopping Around and it’s clear the favourite will be difficult to beat. One who could mount a challenge carrying an each-way price is MLILY, who’s still looking for a maiden victory over obstacles. Patrick Rooney’s mare has finished third on three occasions this term, running up to an RPR that’s ten pounds higher than her official rating on two occasions. Mlily’s three-mile stamina will come in handy on heavy ground around a stiff track like Clonmel. She could go well.

LION TOWER travels to Lingfield in-search of a hat-trick, having won his two previous starts at Southwell. Mark Johnston’s three-year-old made all to win in eye-catching fashion last time out. I’d be surprised if Franny Norton didn’t employ similar tactics after being drawn into stall one and an opening handicap mark of 80 looks highly workable.

UNCLE BERNIE got up late on to carry odds of 20/1 into the winners’ enclosure here at Lingfield in December. Sarah Hollinshead’s ten-year-old then lost out by just a length off a mark one pound higher than this at Wolverhampton and looks a good bet to rub beyond his odds again on his return to Lingfield.

Having joined from Gordon Elliott’s stable with a rating around 120 in November 2018, SANIBEL ISLAND will carry a career-low mark of 93 into this handicap. Although he’s still winless over fences, his fifth at Fairyhouse last time out will act as a source of encouragement for his connections and this looks an excellent opportunity to claim an overdue victory.

FUJAIRA KING made a very good impression on his handicap debut last time out, powering home to win comfortably over course-and-distance. A move to Michael Attwater’s yard followed and he should be competitive again, despite a five pound rise in the weights.
