HOKE COLBURN has been in good heart since returning from a lengthy absence, only once finishing out of the first four and scoring a win when last seen at Punchestown in December where the Beneficial gelding beat Chief Of Police by just over two lengths.

Brian McMahon’s charge found plenty for pressure to land that win where he was well on top at the end and his 6lbs rise is negated by his rider’s claim so he ought to continue to remain competitive and he should make his presence felt once more.

PERCY WARNER won his sole start over hurdles at Navan last month having arrived at Gordon Elliott out of the point-to-point sphere where he was also a winner.

The Ocovango gelding won a shade readily in that hurdles success, beating Flanking Maneuver with the pair pulling well clear of the rest; that form has since been boosted with the runner-up going one better next time and looking a decent sort in the process.

That experience won’t be lost on him and he’s still thoroughly unexposed with significant potential for better so he looks to hold solid claims of a follow up success here.

1:55 Fairyhouse – Solerina January 30th Mares Maiden Hurdle (5yo+) 2m4f

CATHMART DESJY slipped up late on her debut at Punchestown last February but was beaten at the time of her exit; but the Maresca Sorrento mare showed up well on her reappearance over this course in December where she finished third to Brandy Love in a bumper.

Although she was beaten a long way on that occasion she possibly needed the run as it was her first in almost 300 days and she should come on for that effort which will have sharpened her up; while this step up in trip could unlock some improvement and she can open her account switching to hurdling for her top yard.

FUN LIGHT has found only one too good on each of his starts over hurdles either side of almost a year off and Joseph O’Brien’s charge could open his account here.

Runner-up to The Bosses Oscar on his hurdles debut at Leopardstown during the 2019 Christmas Festival the Saddler Maker gelding was absent until making his return at Down Royal last month where only Battle Of Actium proved too strong by around four lengths.

He wasn’t helped by a couple of mistakes with his jumping but he can build on that reappearance which should have him sharper this time around and he can remain competitive; he can go one better here with the potential for further improvement and he ought to go close.
