FRIDAY ALL-WEATHER RACING TIPS – BEST BETS AT SOUTHWELL & CHELMSFORD
1:45 Southwell – Bombardier “March To Your Own Drum” Maiden Handicap Cl6 (4yo+ 0-65) 1m
BLACK BOX boasts some crucial experience of this surface and that could see the Iffraaj filly get off the mark at the sixth attempt.
Robyn Brisland’s charge has shown some fair ability in her starts to date, finishing third in four of her five outings which include here two runs ago behind Model Guest and she latterly was beaten just two lengths into the bronze medal spot behind Fauvette at Kempton.
Back on this surface and stepping up in trip could unlock another level of improvement as she enters the handicap ranks from a workable mark and she could be worth chancing to open her win account now returning from a couple of months off.
3:15 Southwell – Betway Classified Stakes Cl6 (4yo+ 0-50) 5f
It has been a long time since TRUE HERO last tasted success but the Charm Spirit gelding might be worth chancing to get back to winning ways here.
David Brown’s charge hasn’t been beaten too far on either of her last two starts at Kempton and here, the latter coming over this course when finishing three lengths’ fifth to Onebaba where he was unable to sustain his effort on his first run in four months.
A drop back to the minimum trip could prove a good move having struck his only career win to date over this distance and with the handicapper easing him another 2lbs in the ratings he could go close here where he’s likely to be sharper for that recent outing.
3:45 Southwell – Bombardier British Hopped Amber Beer Handicap Cl6 (4yo+ 0-65) 7f
PALAZZO has been on good terms with himself in recent runs and the Morpheus gelding arrives here on the back of a recent course and distance success.
Bryan Smart’s charge is a four time victor over this course and he appeared to win a shade comfortably in that latest success where he had just over one length to spare at the line. That form took a boost when the third won next time out.
He has a 5lbs penalty to carry for that victory last time but given his good spell of form he could prove well able to defy the additional burden and he can land course win number five here.
5:15 Chelmsford – tote Placepot Your First Bet Handicap Cl5 (3yo 0-70) 6f
OUT OF THE EAST might be worth chancing to get off the mark on her handicap debut and the Awtaad filly has shaped with some ability in her three runs to date.
Most recently she was a good fourth behind Craved over this trip at Newcastle where she met plenty of trouble in running and she wasn’t knocked about once her chance had gone late on.
Given that both the winner and runner-up have scored again since then Richard Fahey‘s charge could prove to be leniently treated off an initial 65 on her handicap debut and she can make her presence felt here.
6:45 Chelmsford – tote.co.uk Live Streaming Every UK Race Handicap Cl4 (4yo+ 0-80) 1m2f
BAYSTON HILL has an excellent record here, winning five times over course and distance and making the frame on three other occasions so the Big Bad Bob gelding is taken to enhance his fine strike-rate at this venue.
Mark Usher’s charge has won his last three visits to this track, latterly beating Charlie Arthur by a neck last month where he got up close home. That form doesn’t look too bad and while this represents a step up in class into a Class 4 contest it isn’t the strongest of races for the grade.
He’s only been pushed up 2lbs for that latest success and given his excellent record here he could be worth chancing to strike again despite the better grade of race and no surprise to see him firmly in the mix.
8:15 Chelmsford – chelmsfordcityracecourse.com Classified Stakes Cl6 (4yo+ 0-50) 1m
Lightly-raced NOBLE QUEEN struck her sole career win to date over this course and distance back in October last year and the Noble Mission mare can get back to winning ways returning to this venue.
Ed Walker’s charge ran out a two lengths’ victor over Lady Morpheus on that occasion and she went close to a resumption of winning ways latest when denied only by a half-length behind Star Ascending at Wolverhampton last month over a longer trip.
She had a subsequent winner in arrears and that form is arguably the strongest on offer so she looks the one to beat here back at this venue which could spark a return to the winners’ enclosure racing from the same mark as last time.
