Just one meeting takes place in Ireland on Friday evening with a seven-race card unfolding at the Curragh where the action is on the flat and features some competitive handicap racing including the Apprentice Derby.

We’ve taken a look over the racecard in Ireland to pick out our Friday Curragh best bets and tips for the evening’s racing action.

5:30 Curragh – Brady Family Supporting Barretstown Handicap (3yo+ 60-90) 7f

MUDAWY has yet to get his head in front, but he’s made the frame five times from his nine runs to date including finishing runner-up in three of his last four outings and may be able to break his duck here.

The Dark Angel gelding has wore a tongue-strap the last twice with his most recent outing resulting in him being beaten only a neck at Limerick earlier this month behind Punk Poet, outbattled by the winner but keeping on well to claim the runner-up spot.

This slightly longer trip could suit and he should continue to make his presence felt here given his consistency of late so there’d be little shock in seeing him going well again and he can get off the mark how.

6:35 Curragh – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden (3yo+) 1m2f

SAFECRACKER took a forward step from a lacklustre reappearance when finishing a close third at Cork in May and it might be worth sticking with Johnny Murtagh’s charge to build again on that effort here.

The Golden Horn colt had failed to show much in his sole outing for John Oxx prior to joining this yard and he might have needed his first run of the season when finishing tenth to Wordsworth over this course in April.

Despite his performance that run represents some solid form and he improved for the outing to go close latest; he could progress again and with the potential for better looks worth chancing here to open his win account at the fourth attempt.

7:10 Curragh – TRI Equestrian Handicap (4yo+) 1m2f

SOLENE LILYETTE arrives here in search of a hat-trick of wins and the Pivotal filly could collect with further improvement anticipated although she’ll need to find some if she’s to defy a 12lbs hike in the weights.

Andrew Slattery’s charge was winless last term for Dermot Weld but did shown some ability in defeat; however she’s 2-2 this term with wins at Limerick and Leopardstown latest where she ran out a near-four lengths’ victor over Hayyel, readily.

That form has taken a few knocks and the handicapper took a dim view of that performance by slapping her with a 12lbs rise in the handicap. Nevertheless quite a few of these rivals haven’t been running up to their best and given her recent performances she could be the one to side with here if continuing her run of good form.

7:45 Curragh – Holden Plant Rentals Handicap (3yo+ 50-75) 1m1f

KOJIN might be worth siding with having shown improvement to finish runner-up on his latest start at Roscommon and Jessica Harrington’s charge can build on that better effort here.

The Siyouni gelding was making his handicap debut on that ocacsion where he wore cheekpieces for the first time, finding only Cisco Disco too good by three-parts of a length and that winner has gone in again since to boost the form.

It is interesting that the headgear is left off here but he’s the choice of Shane Foley from the Harrington pair and the lightly-raced sort could have more to offer with this longer trip expected to suit so no surprise to see him the frame again at the business end.
