FRIDAY IRISH RACING BEST BETS – TIPS FOR FAIRYHOUSE & DUNDALK
11:55 Fairyhouse – Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase (4yo+) 2m5f
OPPOSITES ATTRACT finished third in a good point-to-point race won by Monkfish prior to joining this yard and the Gold Well gelding showed a decent level of ability over hurdles last term which yielded a pair of wins at Down Royal.
Third on his final start behind Francin at Navan he made a good return to action at Punchestown last month when finishing just over two lengths behind Latest Exhibition who was a Grade One winner over hurdles and he can build on that promising first run to get off the mark over fences at the second attempt.
Open to improvement over this slightly shorter trip he is proven in the mud and every chance he can go close here.
12:55 Fairyhouse – Granite & Marble Crafts Handicap Chase (4yo+ 0-109) 2m7½f
CLONGUILE WAY arrives here in search of a hat-trick having struck recent wins at over fences at Punchestown and latterly over hurdles at Wexford where the Double Eclipse gelding ran out a nine lengths’ winner over Lisavalley Lass.
Gavin Cromwell’s charge has been hit hard by the handicapper for those successes and he reverts to the larger obstacles here from 11lbs higher than his last winning chase mark. However he’s still unexposed as a chaser and the form of his last chase win has been boosted since with both the runner-up and the fourth horses home going on to win subsequently.
There could be more to come from him over the larger obstacles and while his new mark demands another step forward he is proven in these conditions and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him deliver a big run.
5:00 Dundalk – BetVictor Gamble Responsibly Apprentice Handicap (3yo 45-75) 1m
HELEN DE POURTALES is progressing well, winning both starts since joining this yard and the Footstepsinthesand filly can land her hat-trick here.
Andrew Kinirons’ charge rounded off her time with Madeline Tylicki with a good third over course and distance back in March where she sported a first-time tongue-tie; the headgear has been retained for both starts thus far for his new handler and she could yet hold a secret or two from the handicapper having done just enough the last twice to land the spoils.
Her last run saw her score by a head from Shawaf where her rider dropped his whip; but the runner-up has scored since to give the form a boost and a 5lbs rise in the weights remains workable with the return to one mile a plus.
6:00 Dundalk – BetVictor Casino Handicap (3yo+) 1m4f
BRINJAL has yet to strike for Ger Lyons but the Kingman filly has shown some useful ability and she has made the frame in two of her last three outings; she might be worth chancing then to find a shade more improvement to finally open her account here.
Third latest over ten furlongs here last month behind Party Season, she wasn’t beaten far on that occasion and the fourth has won since to give the form a boost which might make the handicapper’s decision to ease her 3lbs in the weights one to exploit.
There’s a chance this might be a tactical affair which likely wouldn’t suit given she appeared as if she’d have been suited by a quicker gallop last time; but the step back up in distance for this outing might prove a good move and every chance she can make her presence felt in this contest.
