Friday Placepot tips at Glorious Goodwood – Selections and perm on day four

We move into the fourth and penultimate day of racing at Glorious Goodwood and another top-class day of racing awaits punters; the Tote Placepot will again be a popular bet for punters looking to potentially win big for small stakes and we’ve picked out our Friday Placepot tips at Glorious Goodwood and permutation for the day four racecard.

The ever-popular Tote Placepot bet offers punters the chance to potentially win big for a relatively small outlay where the bet’s beauty lies in not even having to back a winner in order to collect a share of the pot.

Covering the first six races of the meeting punters only need to have their selection(s) make the frame according to the number of runners and the race conditions. For a more detailed explanation of how the Tote Placepot works see this page and check below for our Friday Placepot tips at Glorious Goodwood.

FRIDAY PLACEPOT TIPS – GLORIOUS GOODWOOD DAY FOUR SELECTIONS

1:50 Goodwood – Unibet 3 Boosts A Day Goodwood Handicap Cl2 (3yo+ 0-105) 2m4½f

4 ELYSIAN FLAME – Developing into a smart and consistent stayer who ran well in third behind Reshoun in the Ascot Stakes last time having not been seen to best effect in the Chester Cup. Ground versatile performer and only 2lbs higher than at Ascot so another bold bid could be on the cards.

7 COEUR DE LION – Regular participant in these types of events who won the Ascot Stakes twelve months ago but he’s not been in the same form since. Did run well in sixth when defending his crown and a repeat of that effort would put him in the frame although the drying ground likely won’t be in his favour.

11 PLATFORM NINETEEN – Progressive a couple of seasons ago, reeling off a four-timer prior to disappointing at Ascot on his final run that campaign. Off for a long time thereafter but made a winning reappearance at Beverley earlier in the month and could do better still if this doesn’t come too soon. 6lbs higher here but lightly-raced and can make his presence felt.

2:25 Goodwood – Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (3yo) 1m

1 BAAEED – Full brother to the high class Hukum and has looked a classy sort himself, unbeaten in three starts so far and impressing when scoring at Newmarket latest in a Listed contest. No surprise if he were to take this step up in class in his stride and likely to be a tough nut to crack.

3:00 Goodwood – Unibet Golden Mile Handicap Cl2 (3yo+) 1m

2 BEDOUIN’S STORY – Tricky customer but capable on his day and won a big field handicap in January at Meydan before twice making the frame there in Group company. Better for the run at Ascot on his reappearance when finishing a good fifth at Sandown and he can outrun his odds under good 3lbs claimer.

3 JOHAN – Three-time winner last term and following a couple of lesser efforts this term got back to winning ways in the mud at Salisbury latest, beating Variyann. That form has been boosted and a 4lbs rise could prove lenient so every chance of a bit performance under Ryan Moore.

11 ACQUITTED – Lightly-raced sort who won two of his first three starts as a juvenile but is winless since although has made the frame in three of his four starts this campaign including at Sandown latest behind Magical Morning. Might have been given too much to do on that occasion and strong pace here will help so no surprise if he were to give a good account.

3:35 Goodwood – King George Qatar Stakes (Group 2) Cl1 (3yo+) 5f

3 BATTAASH – Shaped as if in need of the run in the King’s Stand stakes last month but the crack sprinter can build on that effort to do better here where he’s won the last four renewals of this prize, beating the track record in the latest of them twelve months ago. Drying ground very much in his favour and the one to beat.

11 DRAGON SYMBOL – Winner of his first four starts before being demoted to second after crossing the line in first in the Commonwealth Cup, losing the race in the stewards’ room. Fine second again in the July Cup and a major player here with further improvement likely.

4:10 Goodwood – l’Ormarins Queen’s Plate Glorious Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 (4yo+) 1m4f

6 OUTBOX – Has been kept busy this term but ran another solid race when finding only Hukum too strong over further at York earlier in the month and will appreciate the drop back in yardage. Three-time winner this term, taking a Listed prize at Newmarket last month and reunited with Hollie Doyle so a big run is expected.

8 PASSION AND GLORY – Arrives on a hat-trick having taken a couple of runs to get going, impressively winning at Lingfield and Ascot where he was a six lengths’ winner of the latter. This is tougher stepping out of handicap company but the manner of that win suggested he was capable of better and he ought to go well here upped in grade.

4:45 Goodwood – Unibet Deposit £10 Get £40 Bonus Nursery Handicap Cl2 (2yo) 6f

2 TROPEZ POWER – Better with each run, getting off the mark at the third attempt at Newbury earlier in the month and now switches to handicaps where he could improve further. Awarded the race in the stewards’ room having been hampered by the winner and can go close here from a workable mark on his handicap debut for a yard that has been doing well this week.

4 EVER GIVEN – Has won two of his three starts, winning on on debut and latterly scoring at Chester earlier in the month where he still looked inexperienced but running out a ready winner. Form of his defeat in between wins is proving very strong and he can improve again to make his presence felt here despite this being a stronger race.

8 SIR HENRY COTTON – Improving with each run and found only one too good latest at Newbury. Represents an in-form trainer and jockey combination and likely has more to come although he’ll need to step up on his exploits and form to date to take a hand; that isn’t beyond the realms of possibility however and he can run well at a price.
